šŸˆ Tennessee is hiring UCF’s Josh Heupel as its next head football coach,

@Brandon Van de Graaff I've said for years Pruitt is a dick. In his role it wasn't that big of a deal; he was who he was. But now...I'm left shaking my head at some of the "bridges burnt" with guys he's known for a long time. He is who he is and it doesn't equal head coach of a major program.

There is a lot about this Tennessee mess that makes no sense at all. If they are trying to get Pruitt ousted by throwing violations in his lap so that they don't have to pay him, I get that part (it's shitty, but I understand the strategy). But are they assuming that the blowback won't also hurt the program? If these violations are serious enough, do they think the NCAA is just going to be ok with only punishing the Pruitt (and some staff members) instead of the program too? Why not just ride it out another year, and fire him when he loses several games again like a normal non-crazy person? Then, if they do accomplish the apparent goal of dumping him without pay, how do they think that's going to look to perspective coaches who they may then try to hire? Fulmer already has a very well earned reputation as a snake, and this would only add venom it. Finally, its been no secret that some Tennessee power players and Hugh Freeze have played footise for years. Unlike many, I firmly believe there is a path for him to return to the SEC. But if the Vol program ends up with NCAA stink on them, I think the Knoxville path becomes a dead end for Freeze. I just don't understand their end game here.
You know.....
So many boosters have bailed.... i dont know just how much resources are available... the poop has been in the bowl forgoing on 16-17 years...
Stadium is aging...attendance down....season tickets sales are down...( and lost revenue this year really hurt)
Its the shit in Knoxville...
they may see...a few schollys lost...year of probation...not as costly as buying out staff....and dont really see an upturn coming...with talent available, recruiting, other programs ...so whats a year?

I would estimate around 40-50% of coaches (including assistants) in the SEC are dicks, but he was a damn good DC (for several reasons). Honestly though, just defensive coordinators alone under Saban, Golding is the only one who doesn't wear that asshole reputation out of the 5 of them. Absolutely agree that Pruitt is a failure at HC. I get why he did it, but he never should have taken that big of a job out of the gate.

he isn’t financially set if they fire him with cause and negate the buyout. Pruitt is a good DC but there was nothing in the 10rc situation or Pruitt HC abilities ( or lack thereof) to indicate he was bound for that sainthood or that 10rc was headed for a renaissance

The Man has made at least 10 million bucks so far not counting what he was making at Bama and FSU. If Pruitt has to work another day in his life then he has really F'ed up with his finances.

Pruitt's future finances is a bit of a side story in all of this. Tennessee and Fulmer were pissed off to no end that Butch landed at Bama, on their dime, and road out the contract. I'm not sure if Pruitt would end up back at UA again if he's fired (there's a lot involved there), but it is at least the possibility that he'd end up on the support staff as an analyst. No way in hell is Fulmer (or the Vols) going to want to pick up that tab again.

If Fulmer doesn't like it, then we should do it. That's my decision tree

No much better than TN paying our bills...

Made millions sofar... see @JoseyWalesTheOutlaw comment ( 10 mill$$$$)
and doesnt mean he isnt still employable.....
The coaching carousel goes round n round..

and when you say..."a good DC" you mean one that has 2 NC rings as DC....
I put that on the north side of good...

The recruit in question 10rc..

It has previously been reported that Tennessee assistant coach Brian Niedermeyer is under investigation for his recruitment of former five-star offensive lineman, Amarius Mims. The Peach State lineman committed to Georgia over Tennessee and Alabama and signed with the Bulldogs during the Early Signing Period.

At one point during Mims’ recruitment, a high school coach asked fans for donations during a live stream video from the lineman’s Instagram account. The coach noted that the donations from fan bases could be the deciding factor in Mims’ recruitment.

It’s unclear if that video had anything to do with the current investigation at Tennessee or what Patrick is referencing with his recent comments but it’s just one example of how interesting Mims’ recruitment was leading up to his decision to sign with Georgia.

I believe it will come to whether Niedermeyer was the lone wolf in the guys recruitment and made any offer up and above the normal or of JP was part of the offer. I believe all the coaches push to the line and few go past. Perhaps Niedermeyer falls on his sword. Bo Davis resigned due to his mistake so this guy can do the same. It must not be that simple.

never said he was not going to be employable

original question was why would he need ā€œCoach Saban celebrity rehabā€

Butch Jones was a HC before he went to 10rc. Was fired for losing. Stayed in CNS rehab for how long before getting another HC gig?

Pruitt isn’t going to walk out of this situation and into another HC job no matter your personal admiration for him

He is a good DC. IMO based on what I have seen of his coaching at 10rc he is not at this time a good HC. Maybe he becomes one in the future but I’ve seen nothing that points to this being the case

Also if he was set for life financially we wouldn’t be discussing his employability status
