šŸˆ Tennessee is hiring UCF’s Josh Heupel as its next head football coach,

Yep, I kind of took it that way as well, although I haven't given any more thoughts other than my initial "what happened". Kind of goes hand in hand with my earlier comment about Fulmer and how does he get out of these constant situations clean, but it appears they finally wisened up on him.

Fulmer is a real life heel wrestling manager.

If this is orchestrated by the viles you have to ask what is their end game. Is it as simple as they do not believe in Pruitt any longer and just want out of the payout? If they have violations as it appears this could create even more issues for the Viles. Something isn't smelling right in this so far. I do not trust the Viles and Fulmer.

UT probably relieved to save the $12M, but it certainly isn't worth the potential fallout from the serious NCAA restrictions headed down the pike.

On the positive side for them, it seems like giving Steele the reigns for a year is a no brainer. You basically get to test drive him as the HC and get a feel for his chops. He's as deserving as anyone who would want this job under the circumstances anyway...

On the UA/Pruitt connection - I'm sure down the road he will be back with CNS. It won't be next year, obviously, with the NCAA impending doom coming his way. But when the dust settles I'm sure he will be a prime candidate for the SCRP (Saban Career Rehabilitation Program). He was a pretty darn good DC for the good guys... Those were fun years!

That will do wonders for recruiting (said in my sarcasm voice)

This decision will bury Tennessee football even deeper in the grave. It maybe 30 years before Tennessee ever beats bama..lol

There is a reason that over the years the universities have paid these coaches even when they were fired with cause. A) because if they pay them they can completely control the narrative. B) because these coaches know that these programs are massive and hard to control with boosters that want to get involved and its almost impossible to not have an issue or two somewhere.. so if they try to screw Pruitt out of his money they could just as easily do it to the next guy.

I think this is going to kill them when they try to hire a new coach. Which big name coach is going to want to take that job with unreal expectations, no backing from administration and one proven to try to screw you on the way out, one that is going to be on some sort of probation, with money problems and one that has already become hard to recruit to?

The recruiting is also about to get much harder:
  • They are having money problems.. this bush league move proves it. That means there facilites are going to fall even further behind. They will be on probation which means they are going to struggle to win still.
  • They won't be able to hire the kind of coaches these player want to play for because no coach wants to come into a place were they know that they are going to lose.
  • coaches on shitty teams rarely get good players which means they don't have the chances to grow and get promoted.
  • they are recruiting against Saban on their southern border, Kirby on their south east border, Dabo on their eastern border and the Lane train on their south western border.

They were already struggling to win these recruiting battles now try it with below average coaches, on probation, with shitty facilities and no other good players willing to go there.

Mark my words, this decision will be a disaster for Tennessee. If they were looking for rock bottom they are about to see it.

A new coach found in a coaching search?...lol
They already know who they want....probably already have an agreement....
But problem is ..... you are under investigation.... just fired a HC for cause....
And are waiting to hire a new AD so he/ she can hire a new HC....
And they...us...me..you...know they want Freeze...but Freeze fired for "cause"by Ole ms....lol
That wouldlook really positive by NCAA...
So, probably...give it to Steele for year...not gonna win anyway.....
Fire him next year....hire Freeze

This just doesnt get any better....unless of course....the hire Gus

It appears Peyton Manning and his beloved Haslam Bros are interested in Bill O'Brien..

One of you call the office supply manager at the Bama complex and have them hold up on the desk and chair as well as the nameplate.

Peyton's influence notwithstanding: Which is the better job at this point? HC of a UT team about to get s-lammed with NCAA violations or OC of the Crimson Tide? Not sure I would the former over the latter.

Would anyone on this list, including Freeze want to touch this job right now? It is a shit show on the hill and it doesn't look as though things will be getting better anytime soon.

JMO but this is a real chance for Billy Napier to step forward and take the job while getting complete control of his hires and good salary for those assistants. It will take a 6 year contract and 5 million to take the gig. The 1st two years is free anyway and that is 10 million in the piggy bank. He then gets at least 2 more (another 10) and then if they fire him at 4 years he never has to work again.
