This decision will bury Tennessee football even deeper in the grave. It maybe 30 years before Tennessee ever beats bama..lol
There is a reason that over the years the universities have paid these coaches even when they were fired with cause. A) because if they pay them they can completely control the narrative. B) because these coaches know that these programs are massive and hard to control with boosters that want to get involved and its almost impossible to not have an issue or two somewhere.. so if they try to screw Pruitt out of his money they could just as easily do it to the next guy.
I think this is going to kill them when they try to hire a new coach. Which big name coach is going to want to take that job with unreal expectations, no backing from administration and one proven to try to screw you on the way out, one that is going to be on some sort of probation, with money problems and one that has already become hard to recruit to?
The recruiting is also about to get much harder:
- They are having money problems.. this bush league move proves it. That means there facilites are going to fall even further behind. They will be on probation which means they are going to struggle to win still.
- They won't be able to hire the kind of coaches these player want to play for because no coach wants to come into a place were they know that they are going to lose.
- coaches on shitty teams rarely get good players which means they don't have the chances to grow and get promoted.
- they are recruiting against Saban on their southern border, Kirby on their south east border, Dabo on their eastern border and the Lane train on their south western border.
They were already struggling to win these recruiting battles now try it with below average coaches, on probation, with shitty facilities and no other good players willing to go there.
Mark my words, this decision will be a disaster for Tennessee. If they were looking for rock bottom they are about to see it.
