šŸˆ Tennessee is hiring UCF’s Josh Heupel as its next head football coach,

It is going to be interesting to learn JP's side of the story and at some point we shall. So far they're blaming JP for not knowing what was taking place but not for actually participating in the deal. Those two assistant coaches know the story and they will talk....perhaps.

Jeremy Pruitt fired: Tennessee chancellor vows football will have integrity (tennessean.com)

They will negotiate something where Pruitt gets some $ so that he keeps his mouth shut. The question is, "What is UT willing to pay for his silence?"

If he stays silent we may never know. Since it is a public university will they have to disclose it?

They will disclose why they fired him. The NCAA punishment will disclose why UT is in trouble. UT's separation agreement will limit what Pruitt can say (if he wants any $ and doesn't want to give it back).

JP has hired the Lightfoot gang out of The Ham to handle his side of this deal. The UT president is saying that they have nothing on JP but that he SHOULD have known what was going on with his staff. Again those two assistant coaches know the deal and so does Pruitt. You would think that if they did what they did with Pruitt onboard then no way would he hire that high price gang.

TBC.

Only because I am paranoid and I do not trust Fulmer in any way shape or form but would that snake be trying to figure out a backdoor way of creating problems for bama? Yeah I know it is a stretch but it is Fulmer.

In a notice of intent to terminate letter sent to Pruitt by Tennessee officials on Monday, the university has concluded that "the conduct by at least two assistant coaches and several recruiting staff members are likely to lead to an NCAA finding of Level I and/or Level II violations of one or more Governing Athletic Rules. The University also has concluded that these likely findings were the result of either your material neglect or lack of reasonable preventive compliance measures."

UT probably relieved to save the $12M, but it certainly isn't worth the potential fallout from the serious NCAA restrictions headed down the pike.

On the positive side for them, it seems like giving Steele the reigns for a year is a no brainer. You basically get to test drive him as the HC and get a feel for his chops. He's as deserving as anyone who would want this job under the circumstances anyway...

On the UA/Pruitt connection - I'm sure down the road he will be back with CNS. It won't be next year, obviously, with the NCAA impending doom coming his way. But when the dust settles I'm sure he will be a prime candidate for the SCRP (Saban Career Rehabilitation Program). He was a pretty darn good DC for the good guys... Those were fun years!

How quickly can we have Pruitt back in TTown, and preparing to be this seasons DC ? Serious question

I know some have said he's toxic and can't be touched... and maybe it will indeed end up that way. But I would bet anyone here a Jim Special from Davenports that at the very least, Saban will inquire about bringing him on board as an analyst. Not saying it'll happen, but it will be asked about in terms of how much NCAA trouble he's going to get saddled with. Worst case, Pruitt can take off to the NFL and earn some coin while the dark cloud over him dissipates some.

As for DC, I don't believe Saban is looking to ship Golding elsewhere... in fact, I think he's trying hard to keep him right where he is.

Anyone got any info on what exactly Pruitt did? I mean, did he pay players? If so, that's nothing new in college sports, but wondering what exactly was bad enough to lose his job.

Not many specific details yet that I've seen (check linked article). At this point, it sounds more like failure to monitor his staff, but I'm sure more will come out. They are obviously trying to pin it on him while minimizing the collateral damage to the program. Like they said in Dodgeball, "It's a bold strategy Cotton! Let's see if it pays off for 'em!"

Yep, I kind of took it that way as well, although I haven't given any more thoughts other than my initial "what happened". Kind of goes hand in hand with my earlier comment about Fulmer and how does he get out of these constant situations clean, but it appears they finally wisened up on him.

Pruitt's lawyer responds...

the best of all possible outcomes would be for this to blow back into the 10rc administration faces like an asparagus piss into a 60mph wind, Pruitt gets exonerated and owed buyout, phatamus disgraced and they end up hiring Lane Kiffin’s pool boy as a coach because ain’t no money can cover that rotten pumpkin stench
