🏈 TAMU or LSU: Which worries you more?

(I don't think this has been discussed yet but my apologies if I am rehashing an old discussion!)

So I was thinking of which games this year make me most nervous .. and I went with these two. For a while I was most concerned with the TAMU game (playing away against the Heisman winner after a bye, etc), but I wonder if the LSU game will be a trap. LSU lost a lot of talent but they are still a threat, and they do pretty well at BDS it would seem. So which game are you most nervous about? What are your score predictions for these two games?

Obviously it's really early to be speculating but it's always fun to talk!

I'm more nervous about LSU. I think the Tide is going to be on fire for both games, but the Aggies deserve a nice beat down after we let that one get away last year.

Out of conference though, we have to watch one team. The road to the championship always goes through Chattanooga. Three out of the last four years, the champion has had to dispatch the Mocs. I think Bama will have to do so again this year.

LSU.

Just look at the draft and it'll tell you how much talent they have.

That game will be determined by injuries...or the lack of them.

I think having an off week before each of these games will be of great benefit. Especially against LSU, because it is late in the season. With so much hype about the Bama/aTM game being "it". I am more inclined to think that it will be an Ole Miss team that would sneak up on is. So many talking heads say that of Bama gets past TAMU that the schedule is a cakewalk after Sept 14. If kids get to reading the papers and watching ESPN, we will have another 2010 on our hands. Saban is 18-1 or 19-1 in rematches with a team after a loss the previous year. The only loss being 9-6 with LSU in 2011. I like our odds against A&M.

Neither of the two things that concern me most about a Bama schedule are in play this year. I should say the two things besides every damn body having a bye before playing Bama.

Those two things are a third road game in 4 weeks, and 3 consecutive games in 3 consecutive weeks against AP Top 15 teams. Bama has not done well recently in either of those.

They encountered both plus the damn bye at South Carolina in 2010. Never had a chance.

They encountered the third road game in 4 weeks again at LSU last year. Just got by.

They encountered the 3 consecutive games in 3 weeks against AP Top 15 teams again last year with ATM. Need I say more?

The AP thingy is really tough. Only one team in the 77 year history of the AP Poll has done that and won all 3 games. 2008 Texas beat #1 Oklahoma, #11 Missouri, #7 Oklahoma State, and then damn near made it 4 in 4 weeks with the close last minute 33-39 loss to #6 Texas Tech.

That's a really interesting factoid. I have faith in Saban to fix the mistakes of last year. Plus, Manziel CAN be handled and if anyone can figure it out, it's Alabama.

Early is a better time for us to catch tamu.. lsu is a physical test and it will be a tougher game for bama with the revamped o-line going up against their defense

I've always been the contrarian with some of your posts and can't see a reason to stop now. :halo:

According to what a few guys on the staff have shared there's no less than seven guys they feel can start on our O-line and we'll continue having the success we've had—possibly eight.

That doesn't mean I don't have some concern about our 2's. If Kelly were to get hurt I'd be nervous about our center position. A few that saw them practice this spring said his snaps were inconsistent.

I'm looking forward to seeing us run behind Steen. We are going to get a lot of push behind him this season.

Actually Saban is 20-9 in those games. He was 5-7 at MSU, 8-1 at LSU, and is 7-1 at Bama. His back to back loss to the same team at LSU was to UF in 2000-2001, meaning he has lost only two such games in the last 12 years, and only the one to LSU in the last 11 years.

Don't go confusing me with the facts. The numbers I derived were from the talking heads leading up to the 2011 Bama/LSU game. I heard it on TV as well as some of the radio programs.........Just goes to show you. 67% of all statistics are made up on the spot. :halo:

I am more concerned with our ability to score and keep up on offense a than i am with limiting them. They are going to score some points. Bama has to be able to answer or at least hold the ball for a bit and slow the game down initially... and the new guys may not have quite gotten comfortable with each other at game speed yet. Thats all.

Watching our LBs and line play im not worrid so much about the defense. Tamu didnt stretch the field and beat us... they played scramble/back yard football..... thats something i think this years front 7 will be apt to handle. I like the way the dline is looking.

Btw... i enjoy your contrary nature. Ifs kinda like with my wife except you actually have good points
