🏈 TAMU or LSU: Which worries you more?

Don't go confusing me with the facts. The numbers I derived were from the talking heads leading up to the 2011 Bama/LSU game. I heard it on TV as well as some of the radio programs.........Just goes to show you. 67% of all statistics are made up on the spot. :halo:

They were concentrating on the wrong part of the stat. One in eleven years is impressive enough.

ATM was playing their third straight road game at Bama. Was their FIFTH road game in SIX weeks. My hat's off to them. They won all 5 of the road games in that stretch. The only loss was at home to LSU.

Definitely LSU. Idk, something about A&M, they usually have years like last year and then can never get over the hump and exceed expectations the next. Don't get me wrong, I'm worried about the A&M game, but THE game with LSU is always scary...Home field advantage never seems to be an advantage with either team in this rivalry.

I am more concerned with our ability to score and keep up on offense a than i am with limiting them. They are going to score some points. Bama has to be able to answer or at least hold the ball for a bit and slow the game down initially... and the new guys may not have quite gotten comfortable with each other at game speed yet. Thats all.

Watching our LBs and line play im not worrid so much about the defense. Tamu didnt stretch the field and beat us... they played scramble/back yard football..... thats something i think this years front 7 will be apt to handle. I like the way the dline is looking.

Btw... i enjoy your contrary nature. Ifs kinda like with my wife except you actually have good points

I've haven't been one to worry in a handful of years now. I have been one to find a few areas that I'm looking forward to seeing develop.

Depth in our H-back position is something I feel is worth watching. I'll get back to this in a second.

Right along with that I wonder how our tight end position is going to come along.

Now, why these two positions? I am wondering how well we can handle outside rushes.

With the H-back, there's not a lot of concern with Fowler being able to pick up a rush that's coming from outside the tackle position. But, if that rush is coming from the opposite side that's leaving it on Vogler and Faciane. With Howard as Jalston's back-up, we'll have an offensive threat still on the field but we don't know how well he'll do picking up blitzing ends or any of the back seven on defense.

Timing issues? Is that what you mean by comfortable? Or, are you referring to a chemistry type issue along the offensive line?

In passing routes and timing with Coop, Bell, Norwood, and White we shouldn't be dealing with a timing issue there. Our weakest link? In my eyes White. (I'd wonder if he holds that 4th or 5th WR position throughout the first quarter of our season)

Scoring? Last year we only had four teams hold us under 35. Now, three of the four were spread out and tossing it around a bit. Two featuring the hurry-up type offense. I like our back-seven against those type offenses this season. And, there shouldn't be a huge learning curve against teams tossing it around on us.

However, like last year, that fifth defensive back is an area to watch. I'm guessing we see Perry in our nickel set and Vinnie in our base. It was the insertion of Perry that was a part of the adjustment last year against A&M as I recall.

LSU is still the game. I need not remind anyone of the times we heard about how many we'd lost on defense and no one was giving much due (except some here) to those who had a lot of playing time in the defensive sets.

I'm getting a sneaking suspicion the score will be closer against A&M than the game.

A&M won b/c of backyard ball or Johnny football. This crap will not hold up as the SEC begins to trap Manziel. Also, the bye will help us, especially on the offensive side.

LSU has been the only school while CNS has been at 'Bama that can line up & play the same physical game we can. Which is why this has been the only school to play 'Bama tight for those years. I love the fact that we have a bye before we play them. That refreshes this team physically. The question will be if the bye impacts the little mistakes b/c that has been the weak link when all other things being equal.

I honestly feel like CNS and CKS were scheming for A&M on the plane ride home from Miami. The buy weeks before each game makes me more at ease with any injuries we might incur. Call me crazy but I don't seem worried with either team.

If we are healthy and no castrophic injuries I am always more cautious about the LSU game, yes they lost alot on defense (and so did A & M) but I think we always fair better in revenge games on the road so I feel more confident about the A & M game I think our line will plow the road and we will control the clock and and field position and keep wonderboy on the bench. I feel we have the advantage against LSU's defense this year because of their losses but as mentioned they are still loaded with talent, and Z. Muttenburger may be much improved as LSU is still high on him and you always have the Miles factor which means anything can happen in a weird purple way

What will the loss of Kingsbury mean to TAMU.

Another thing worth mentioning, both TAMU and LSU are breaking in new OC's.

Kingsbury ran Sumlin's system who ran Art Briles system...so, we'll see Sumlin's system once again at A&M.

Their new co-OC, McKinney(?), comes from the same progression. He was with Sumlin the entire time at Houston and served as the RB coach last year.

The other co-OC, can't recall how to spell his name, has worked with Sumlin and Kingsbury. He's got ties to Holgerson (should translate to a lot of INT's) and Malzahn (translates to trick plays that don't work.)

Not much of a bump in the road with A&M...

Oh, and LSU? Cam Cameron seems like a good hire down there. A LOT of experience.
