🏈 Taking off your crimson-colored glasses ..

We must limit turnovers and play sound defensively. Play your assignment and trust that your teammates play theirs. Don't try to cover for a teammates miscue on the read option by trying to take his read. Offensively, get Blake some rhythm throws that get him going early. Get Amari involved EARLY!! Either as a decoy or get it to him.

Bama's offense won't be anything like the LSU game we'll come out firing this week and I think our defense will be enough to slow down Prescott. We'll hold them to some fieldgoals when they should've scored and we'll outpace them by the 4th and win. Is my guess.

Objectively...comparing unit to unit, there's only two areas I see MSU being better than Bama.

One, at QB. BUT, that's only due to the number of yards Prescott has rushed for this season. I'd also give the Bulldogs the edge at running back, but that's largely due to TJ being hurt.

Here's the thing to consider. While Robinson has had a year that has garnered him a lot of attention, it's still started with Dak. If you look at the game where Robinson has gained over 100 yards, Dak has been getting @20 or more carries.

Here's one that will likely shock a few of you. I truly believe Bama comes in with the edge in special teams. I believe the number is three; as in three different place kickers MSU has used this season. They do a pretty good job punting though they are no where near Scott. Add to that they are near the bottom of the list, across the entire college football landscape, in punt returns.

FWIW, here in the Sportsbook, I'd have taken the -6.5 if the lines would have been posted Monday. As it ends up, @the Bookie has been out spending all the money lost this season.

Prescott will need his Garcia day... I just don't see them having the talent at receiver positions to get it done. I have a feeling that Alabama can make them quite one-dimensional and that dimension being the running game plays well into what we do. After watching Alabama man-up to stop LSU's running game, i fear no one's ground attack. Stopping Fournette was a monumental task that took the sacrificing of our guys bodies out there. They have no fear. I was quite impressed with that aspect of last week's game.

MSU will have to try to beat us through the air and i just don't think they have it.

State comes in with a chip on their shoulders about not being respected. If they get ahead early, they will cruse to 20 points before we can stop them. I believe we will be able to catch up in the second quarter because they have a record of not putting away a team they have gone ahead on. DP throws a rocket pass that is on target most of the time. He will sprint when he gets the chance, so man to man coverage will probably work better than zone. I believe if we use zone coverage we will get beat.

How does a man coverage scheme cover the middle of the field; the area most likely left open if we have good coverage on their receivers?

TJ may not be his normal self and be limited. If so we'll miss his downfield vision and knack for hitting the holes at the LoS. Henry will carry the load and hopefully those scat back youngsters we have will help him open up the game for us. My gut feeling is we win and enough to cover the original spread of -6.5. Roll Tide.
