As a soph he tended to hold onto the ball too long, getting sacked when he could have unloaded the ball to an empty spot on the field. This was much less of a problem last year, and has not been an issue this season, so far. As a junior he had a tendency at times to throw into coverage. I don't know if he just wasn't reading the coverage or thought he could beat it. Again, this year, with the exception of the int versus WKU this has not been an issue. While JPW's passing stats may not be glamorous so far, he has avoided drive killing sacks and turnovers, and kept us in manageable down and distance situations. He hasn't had a great game throwing the ball yet this season, but I am confident that he will. Perhaps Saturday will be the day.

If he could read blitzs this would not happen so often. Having said that, I like him. I think he is a tough competitor. I think McElwain has him going in the right direction. Only time will tell.
