I can't claim to be an expert Factor, but I'm gonna tell you what...and you're gonna laugh at how ghetto I am;
I wanted to smoke some ribs a while back but didn't have a smoker. I do have this huge wrought iron grill however. It's shaped like a smoker, but the area around the rack (the cylinder I guess) isn't fully enclosed. It almost looks like...chicken wire? Hard to explain if you've never seen one, but anyway. Well, I improvised.
I fixed it up with the charcoal and the wood chips/juice and then wet some old bath towls and hung them around the cylinder to keep the heat and smoke in. Well, my friend said it would never work.
Might have been the best baby back ribs I've ever eaten. Threw 'em on there for like 5 hours in medium heat and they just fell off the bone LITERALLY.
