🏈 Super Bowl half time show!

They do. They get / he will get Union scale for the appearance.

I read about this a few years ago when I was wondering how much Usher was paid on a Sunday. A lot of people saw more than one usher that day. A lot saw more than one Usher that night. 🙃

I thought it was funny.

So, a thousand bucks? You covering @OldPlayer's shift this morning or something?

I'm NOT defending the choice, I'd rather watch 20 minutes of that DVD screensaver symbol bounce around the TV screen, but the dude is the 2nd most streamed (and 2nd most popular I guess you could argue) artist right now behind Taylor Swift. Gun to head, I couldn't name a single song or rap or whatever he does, but to them, it's all about view$.

Funny as shit, because I always go back to this from The Office. Jay-Z is Michael...

If he was looking to see how much that Usher collected on a Sunday two years ago? I guess, yes. The ONLY reason I knew that was because of that SB and my sense of humor.

Seriously, I don't know if it's as much as a $1000. I remember reading where studio musicians could have been paid around five an hour...it was $4 and a handful of change at the bottom of the scale two years ago.

When we had the pub we'd have Joe Santana in two or three times a year. He commanded $500 a night. However, his brother Carlos had A LOT to do with the amount of money he charged venues. That's almost twice what we would pay local bands. My gut tells me this Bunny act will get around that: maybe less.

I read somewhere something similar

If they have new album or record coming out.
Tour...
The can do for little of nothing. Promoting the upcoming music ... event... Like worth millions in advertising ....

He’s the second most streamed artist, so the younger audience prefers him. The only other person more popular is Taylor Swift and we’d get the same bitching and moaning by not younger people

At one time, contractually she wasn’t able to do it. I think she’s free of that now, but not sure. Supposedly though, and I don’t know this for sure either, Jay Z doesn’t like her.

I'd change tables if she served me pretzels at a bar. Without hearing her sing. I don't get that...

I would never TRY to get that.

In 2024, the Super Bowl was watched by an estimated 8.5MM 18-24 year olds. Another 6.6MM viewers were 17 and under. 25 and up viewership was 98.8MM. Bad Bunny is targets toward the 24 and under crowd, but not the young kids.

They made the decision to try and appease and increase the young viewers. To the detriments of their bread and butter? Maybe, that is yet to be seen. The ad spots will sell no matter if it’s Tiny Tim playing the halftime show. The NFL has become almost untouchable and can do no wrong because so many have become addicted to it.

And heck, maybe Google should have an ad spots on their translator before the show so folks can at least understand what the performer is singing about.

Y, diablos, tal vez Google debería tener anuncios en su traductor antes del espectáculo para que la gente al menos pueda entender de qué está cantando el artista.

On the topic of the League. I’m interested in the Gruden case where the League leaked emails he’d sent (but didn’t leak any other emails). The NFL is really trying to delay this thing and run up his legal fees but he’s hanging in there. I hope it continues to stay interesting.
