Hey guys.. we will be headed south usually on Hwy 82. Usually all of the congestion is just getting to the point of Hwy 82 intersection with Skyland. After that, it's easy.

My question is, where would be the best places to park if you were headed that way after the game and also are there any tricks to getting south of town to get down to 82 avoiding McFarland?

Thanks ahead

I think even if you went through downtown and hit 359, you're still going to get in a jam. The only trick I know is patience. :what: I've learned this: :rant2::rant2::rant2:, while quite expressive, only gets my blood pressure up and I'm still in a jam.

Helicopter :rolf:

My son and I still talk about the traffic jam after the '09 LSU game. We sat in a parking lot for an hour before we could get out and then it took us 2 and a half hours to get out of town.

for me, it was the 2011 lsu game. i'd never seen that many people on campus at one time, and i haven't, since.

If you are coming in on 82 (west-bound) get off on Old Montgomery Highway (Hwy 215) and follow it up to 10th Ave. Turn Right on to 10th and follow it up towards the south side of the stadium. On the corner of 10th ave and 15th St. is Central high school. Park there ($20) Park in the rear of the school. When the game is over exit the rear parking lot of the school turn right and get ready to make an immediate L on to 8th ave. Go to the stop sign at the end of 8th ave and turn right on to Hargrove Rd. Run Hargrove back to 10th ave. (redlight will let you get back on). At this point, you will leave the exact same way you came in. 10th down to Greensboro Ave (Old Montgomery Highway) and it will be a straight shot all the way back to 82. This is the quickest way out. There will be traffic, but it moves well and you will be in Centreville before Eli finishes with the post game report.

You now what, is was the 2011 game not the 2009 game. Geez, that place was crazy!!!

we still talk about that day when we tailgate and it seems to be a bit crowded.

someone usually says, "crowded? it's nowhere near as crowded as in 2011." and we all agree. that day was like something from a crazy story out of hollywood. it's like if you didn't experience it, you wouldn't believe it if someone told you about it.

No doubt and for what it is worth, the LSU fans I interacted with were fantastic. Just good ole football fans. I guy had a houndstooth hat with purple and yellow and he was a riot. Even though we lost the game, it was a fun time.

Agreed. I sold my 4 tix to that game and made enough for next season.

I tailgated all day with friends as well, but I left at 5 and drove back home and watched the game in my living room. Great day (outside the loss). I agree it was unbelievably crowded. We had a great time. Tried to convince my friends that tailgated with me to break down and leave when I left......they didn't and got home at 3 the next morning. (we all live in B'ham). They regretted it to say the least.

My prediction: pain
