šŸˆ Stephanie Pedersen commentary on Alabama football: Crimson Tide's season depends on quarterback deci

McCarron looked cool under pressure. Most of the time, he didn’t hold the ball too long (a Greg McElroy specialty) and his footwork was on point (not a John Parker Wilson specialty). But he spent too much time eyeing Marquis Maze, who finished with 118 yards on eight receptions.

What would be the point of throwing those two under the bus just for example purposes.

I've got one...both threw two interceptions in one game. A total that is one shy of McElroy's entire senior season.

I do find it a little amusing she's making light of JP's footwork when I was criticizing the footwook of the offensive line...which, led to JP having trouble...

(fwiw, connelly is at utep still. I was hoping they'd face TTUbbs this season.)

I didn't feel like he was staring down Maze. Maze would have been the primary guy on most routes, and if he is open no need to check down to another receiver. In our post Julio era our younger receivers need to do a better job of running their routes. Getting open is a skill. From CNS comments on Duron Carter so far it seems to me Carter is pretty good at it.

A point that 95% of the fan base misses and definitely missed with Julio. Some of our routes take time to develop. It's no different than the option read for a quarterback if you think about it. He's basing his read on one player but it's within 5-8 yards and within the first few seconds. On passing routes, some of those require watching a guy for 4-5 seconds.

I've seen instances where fans were complaining about a specific play with Greg saying he was staring down Julio. The thing is, from a different perspective—like end zone seating where you can see routes and lanes develop—you can see he was watching a safety or corner (inside or outside coverage.)

This game is going to be a test.... Last week was a cupcake game to try different options, After listening to Finebaum this week there is a lot of Mitty bitty Lions fans talking smack. None of that matters. These older coaches have more tricks up their sleeve. This is a test for more reasons than the sports writers can talk about. They all are predicting BAMA to win. It sounds too easy to me. I just hope this year will not be a heart attack season.

8 catches for 118 yrds
I can think of 8 plays where looking at Maze a long as he wanted to look at him was the right thing to do. Maybe no-look passes is what she is suggesting. With the 16 point lead that we finished with, AJ could give it try for a series...if she thinks that would help us win the game. :lance:
