I don't know man. The way our fanbase works, I wouldn't be surprised to see all talk skip to McCarron. From everything I've heard Star is gonna have to show some major improvements to even get a sniff at passing McElroy. If he shows better leadership than McElroy though, it will increase his chances, but even while at the Elite 11 Camp, he was evaluated as being "at least 2 years away from starting in the SEC." He showed A LOT of maturity though during the recruiting process and has all the tools to be a great qb for us... just needs some time to get get it all together IMO.

I don't think there will be a 2 QB system because S. Jackson isn't considered a dual threat QB. He may run better than G-Mac but coming out of high school he was considered a drop back passer. So IMO whoever is the best QB will be the starter period. I think it will do S. Jackson good to be the backup next year and keep progressing. I know im excited about seeing him in the A-day game.
Perhaps, the "Two QB system" definition is what is being missed here. Some think it means "two quarterbacks play in the season" other think "they alternate series."

As example, back in 2003 Matt Mauck played in 14 games that year. Marcus Randall played in 8 games but only attempted to throw the ball a little less than 50 times in that season.
By the time we move to G-Mac's senior season we could see a lot of what we saw at LSU in 2004. There wasn't a lot of difference between the number of passes Jemarcus Russell threw and the number Marcus Randall had. Very little difference. The same held true with the amount of yards both had through the air.
What was interesting about '04 is Matt Flynn was seeing a bit of action then. Like Randall in '03, Flynn saw action in 8 games but didn't have more than a dozen or so pass attempts.

The one where they alternate series, i just think it can disrupt the rhythm of the game if not done right. I have no problem with throwing a wrinkle or two in there with a different QB on certain plays but not series. Florida did that the best when Tebow was a freshman. For example when LSU alternates QB's they look bad, against South Carolina they had Jarret Lee running the offense then when they where inside the 10 they put in Hatch and he almost threw a pick in the endzone. IMO it just messes up the timing and the flow of the offense. Does that make any sense?

What Saban used between his guys in the regular '03 season wasn't what I would call a 2QB system (by that alternating series definition.)
I'm going to have to go digging to see how they rotated them in '04. I have those stats at the click of the mouse but the actual breakdown of games is saved on a disc somewhere.

I also remember them having a hard time with Troy that year and Jamarcus didn't get in that game. He went with Marcus Randall the entire game.
