šŸ“” Staff additions/changes: Reports: Craig Kuligowski hired as defensive line coach

Bates......I guess I wouldn't mind a Clemson looking DL:popcorn2:
He's only been there a year so we have to keep that in mind. However, an unusual note to Dabo hiring Todd was he gave Todd the entire DL. The staff in '16 had one coach for DT's (Brooks) and another for the DE's (Hobby.)

I find it interesting that Brooks "discovered" Todd at a Clemson camp and told Dabo he was the best coach they had out there. It didn't take long for the hire.

Tosh was named DC officially, but he wasn't 1st choice by Saban.

Jim Leonhard of Wisconsin was offered the DC position and turned Bama down. He wanted to stay and help his alma mater and Paul Chryst build something at Wisconsin.

Saban also interviewed Chris Partidge and Gene Chizik. Partridge declined and Chizik doesn't want to coach again till his son is out of HS.

Freddie Roach turned down Saban twice. Not sure why. Was told he really loves being at Ole Miss.
Personally, I look at Wesley McGriff as heading out of Oxford as soon as he can. No one showed a lot of interest this past off-season as I recall but I have to take that in context with the transition Ole Miss is/was under. Seeing FR to DC in '19 wouldn't shock me.

BTW, McGriff was a Freeze hire but didn't coach under him. Sort of funny considering he came to Freeze from Gus.

Alabama is replacing Karl Dunbar, who left for the Pittsburgh Steelers after two seasons coaching the defensive line.

An assistant coach from Tulane is emerging as a candidate for Alabama's vacant defensive line coaching job.

Kevin Peoples was in Tuscaloosa for an interview, BamaOnLine reported Wednesday. A day earlier, ESPN identified Peoples as a potential target for Alabama as it replaces Karl Dunbar. The Pittsburgh Steelers hired Dunbar last week to coach the defensive line.

Peoples just completed his second season at Tulane and spent two seasons at Georgia Southern before that. He's familiar with the area after recruiting Birmingham as an assistant with Arkansas and Arkansas State. Peoples also coached the UAB defensive line in 2013.

"He's real intense," UAB defensive lineman Deric Scott told AL.com of Peoples in 2013. "He's not going to expect anything but your best. If you're not giving your best, he'll find somebody else that can give his best. He doesn't care if you're a walk-on or scholarship player or whatever. If you're going to give 100 percent, you're going to play."

Peoples has coached at all levels from Blinn Community College in Texas to the Las Vegas Outlaws of the XFL.

Candidate emerges for Alabama D-line coaching job, reportedly interviews with Tide

Any word on the DLine coach?
So we still have to replace DL coach and 3 staffers?

I don't know what the number looks like on staffers, but analyst really don't have a cap on number as far as I know. There may be four more hires, ya know? Right now Enos is an analyst.

Saban is still interviewing DL candidates. I'll caution to avoid the noise because you'll hear names linked to the job that haven't been considered. It happens EVERY time. Like other searches, there are a number of coaches wanting some face time to talk about the job as well.
