There's some "yes, that right" and "no, that's not right" here.
He has been officially hired, but hasn't been slated/titled as "QB coach" right now. He's on staff, officially, as an analyst.
That's yes and no as well. In the presser after NSD Tosh was said to be the DC. There's nothing official from UA media relations/Saban on his title.
It makes sense to me. As example, right now Saban could hire a linebackers coach and have Tosh move back to the defensive line. It is his specialty. That move would go against how Saban has constructed his defensive staff in the past with having his (or one of) his DC's coaching linebackers. On the other hand we could see a defensive line coach hired and Tosh remain where he is currently.
It's important to note here that Saban has talked to quite a few and those meetings have been labeled as "interviews" when the guys aren't candidates in the first place. Take Surtain's father. It was labeled as an interview. But, at the same time Bama already had a few defensive guys on staff with experience with defensive backs.
His meeting with Saban was considered--or labeled--an interview. Yet, there are reports it was a just a meeting of the minds and he's not a candidate. (There are more than a few that's happened with this season.
BTW, remember when Chip Kelly was on campus and suddenly we had headlines that read "Kelly as OC for Bama?" {sic}
It's an interesting pastime but in the end we'll likely be a little surprised at who is named: see Mac, Nuss, and a host of others who came out of the blue.
