šŸ“” Staff additions/changes: Reports: Craig Kuligowski hired as defensive line coach

@crimsoncorner , any names popping up as replacements for Dunbar?
IMO, looks like Todd Bates, Freddie Roach could be some good possibilities, or even a Brick Haley. Todd and Freddie would hit that young aggressive coach that Saban has gone after with this last group.

Eric Henderson, Freddie Roach are 2 other names

Henderson coached DL with Bo Davis and Golding at UTSA in 2016.

Currently at Chargers NFL

I may be wrong, but I don't think coach Burns spends a lot of time on the recruiting trail. (?) Nonetheless, might be the most underrated assistant of the Saban era (outside of true Bama fans who know what a RB Yoda he is). Some could counter with the argument of the amount of talent put in his stable each year, but even the best stallions (nohomo) have to be broken/trained. Not every single highly rated RB we've signed has worked out, but a high percentage has and many that haven't was a result of injury, and/or the inability to deal with elite competition. For me, his teaching methods on how to carry the ball and the lack of RB fumbles is amazing in an of itself, but could even the top HATERS try and diminish his contributions to developing (not necessarily in order): INGRAM, YELDON, LACEY, RICHARDSON, HENRY, SCARBOROUGH, D. HARRIS and even JACOBS & N. HARRIS.

Helped bring Alabama football it's first and shortly later 2nd Heisman trophy winner in school history. Unless Burns is willing/able to stay on as long as CNS, maybe this might be the year to bring in (hopefully) the 2nd best RB coach in history that could also do some recruiting?

Another note -- Been talk of Burns looking to retire. He's 65 and vested in state of Alabama. Stay tuned as to when he decides.

That would be amazing - right now, 5 new assistants, and Locksley only an on-the-field coach/recruiter for one year, right? Dunbar is gone, so we are about to be at 6 new assistants - the possibility of 7 if Burns goes. So from 2 years ago there will be 7, and from last year 6, new coaches recruiting the different areas and prospects.... or possibly MORE if Burns goes. Wow - that certainly didn't help this year - might it hurt us for another year until new relationships develop?

This is a great post.

Burns doesn't have to recruit as much as he did, but look at the players he's brought in Burn's all-time commits !:shock::shock:

He's the GOAT of collegiate RB's coaches.

From what I've read about the Dunbar move he joining the Steelers without being the DL coach. He's going as a backup to Mitchell until he retires. How much do they pay their coaches? None of my business, but that sounds like Dunbar feels compelled.

Definitely sounded like a "mutual parting" between CNS and Dunbar. I read that Mitchell was retiring after the '18 season, so this is only a 1 year deal as assistant DL coach for Dunbar.

I know he isn't on the road recruiting as much, but to me, IMHO, Coach Burns has been the most valuable assistant on the staff with Scott Cochran!! Likely a 1A/1B scenario! I would pay that man whatever he wanted to hang around the building just to mentor his replacement, much like Joe Pendry did!

You win a few NC and everyone wants one of your assistant coaches Not only colleges, but the NFL. That's right here, should show all that Bama has the best coach in the USA. We all know he not an NFL type coach, but man he know how to get those young men to play for him. Then these guys go off to the NFL and show those guys how to play too!
