Any of you think that Coach Saban will do any of the kickoff fair catch stuff?
He may surprise me, but I don't think so. Looking over the past several years as an indicator, Saban has always allowed his players to make plays. While we have had decent returners, none have been as good as Javier Arenas. He seemed to have an amazing feel for when to fair catch vs when to catch it and run. I think Saban wants his players to make smart plays. If you have a playmaker that catches it at the 10 yd line and can run it 20 yards, he would rather start at his own 30 vs 25. (obvious, I know) but I think Saban believes in his players and will want them to make a play, if they think they can make a play.
