I haven't seen this posted here yet......sounds like Tua hurt hurt his throwing thumb again on a helmet in practice. Is this gonna be a common thing? Sounds like he may be the better QB but if he cant stay healthy its not gonna do us a lot of good. This has happened twice in spring practice and i know everyone is saying..."its not a big deaL...he has all off season to get healthy. Im more concerned this is how the season will be ya know. The thing about Jalen has been that he is a rock and didnt get hurt all year. Im a worried over nothing?

Not his thumb!!!
"Tagovailoa broke the index finger on his throwing hand during Alabama's first spring practice March 20 and underwent surgery later that night."

"Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa had "a little setback" with his hand injury during the Crimson Tide's practice on Friday and didn't take part in Alabama's scrimmage on Saturday.
It's not yet clear how much, if any, he'll participate next week, which is the Tide's final week of spring practice.
"Doctors are trying to evaluate the best course of action and what we do with him the remainder of the spring," Alabama coach Nick Saban said. "With that said, I can't really tell you anymore. ... We're going to try to protect this and make sure that this thing is not going to be an issue for him in the fall."

Just passing along some more opinion.

Scrimmage reports are few and far between. Between coach’s outburst this week and very limited attendance capacity at indoor facility, no surprise I guess.

Lot's of players down the depth chart are getting chances to show what they're made of because we have so many injured players right now.
Womack
Diggs
Jeudy
Jacobs
Forristal
Tagovailoa
Jennings
Holcombe is not participating in spring practice.
We have some talent on the DL that has an opportunity to step up. Mathis, Q. Williams, Ray.
Saivion Smith appears to be legit.
Bulovas has taken a positive step forward, not sure if it's because of the new ST coach but it would be a heck of a coincidence if not.
It appears Wills is being given every opportunity to pick up the starting spot on the OL that is up for grabs. I'm not going to address the Leatherwood/Womack situation. Womack will be given a chance to compete for his starting job when he's healthy so that will go beyond the spring.
I think a unique thing this year is Saban is truly breaking in a new DC for the first time since he's been at Alabama. He knew what he had with Pruitt.
I think Locksley's imprint is already showing up on the philosophy of the offense, which makes sense because Tua can run any offense well and Hurts would probably excel more in Locksley's style than Daboll's.
People need to remember that our punter is not JK Scott anymore.

would love to come, but with this development, my wife has a church activity planned now. "since Tua won't be throwing at all" you need to stay home and help out at the church. hope the rest of you aren't as whipped as I obviously am... turn out and show the rest of the SEC what a spring game crowd looks like

Second metacarpal isn't exactly the index finger though it's understandable for people to get those confused--one being Tua's father.

If it were a case of a fractured thumb or finger it seems to be he'd be having a hell of a time simply gripping the ball. That's not been an major issue. Tua has been throwing with a deflated ball to decrease any pressure that he might experience.

I won't be attending this weekend, NOT because Tua won't be playing, BUT because my son is chasing a dream of a state championship in soccer. He is the backup keeper and our team is playing this weekend, away at 2pm. Right now, we lead our region and are primed to host on the 27th or 28th. If it weren't for the scheduled game, we would both be making the trip to T'town.

Playing in a golf tournament this weekend, so we won't be making it either. Will be recording and watching as soon as the tournament is over. Safe travels to everyone, and I look forward to seeing our linebackers and running backs the most.

I'm wondering how he's come to that conclusion. We don't even know who is actually calling the plays.
I also wondered how he came to that conclusion. I saw the original post(s) and the one with the most content there wasn't at the practice Saturday--or the first scrimmage for that matter. Nothing against the guy. I don't know him personally. I am familiar with his posting history and he's a regular on TI--has been for years.

There's a good question brought up here. As example, when Locksley was at Maryland he hold the OC, QB coach, and play calling duties. As OC he was on the sidelines as I recall. Now, we've got Enos on the QB side and Locks on the OC side. Not only do we not know who is going to be the play caller but we also don't know who is in the booth and who is on the sidelines.

It seems logical to have Enos on the sidelines and Locksley in the booth. However, we've seen play callers who do better from the sidelines. I can't recall where Enos was in his last stops but my gut tells me it was from the sidelines as well (at Arkansas.)

Another question we likely won't have an answer for before fall.

Personally, I have enjoyed Kiffin, Sark, and Daboll on the sidelines as the OC. I hope coach Saban keeps the tradition going. I think a big advantage is the personal touch our offense is getting. On the headset, usually it's only the QB that is getting direction and the OC is now getting to critique all the positions as they come off the field and just being able to look your guys in the eyes and emotionally settle the team down is invaluable. And Enos as OC was on the sideline last season against Bama trying to keep Cole Kelly's head above water.

Semantics, I know, but it's worth noting Saban doesn't have a "tradition" here. In his 11 years in Tuscaloosa the OC has always had the QB position coaching duties as well. Personally, I'm leaning towards the idea of Locks in the booth and Enos on the sidelines.

That may happen. But I watched Daboll and other OCs get all over other position players when they were gumming up the works. I love the personal touch and sitting down with the whole team and just talking about schematics seems well worth the change. I doubt Enos will have much to say to any of the players beyond QB.

Like you said, may happen.

As I recall, the move of Kiff from the booth to the field was to get him closer to Blake--cutting down, as much as possible, the communication issues they were having. With Sark getting part time duty at the position it didn't make sense to change the placement/assignments at the end of the season.

The reasoning behind Daboll being on the sidelines? There's a question. We can assume continuity first and foremost.

Best of luck to him!!

It's reading between the lines...makes me think Enos is on the sidelines.

“I think it’s worked out great. I think the quarterbacks are getting a lot more immediate attention, self-gratification. I think the best way to teach is, if somebody makes a mistake or if somebody makes a good play, either one, to get immediate feedback is probably the best way to learn. And I think with the advent of tempo offense – fastball — players don’t get coached as much between plays because they have to go get lined up to play the next play, get the signal. So they don’t get that feedback immediately.
“I thought when the offensive coordinator was over on the side running the practice, putting up signs, running plays, he’s not even in a position to give the quarterback feedback. I thought it would be good when we added a 10th coach to do like what we did in the NFL where there was a quarterbacks coach to give the guy feedback.
“I think Mike and Dan get along really, really well. Both have been successful coordinators in the past and I think they both have a lot of respect for each other. I think it’s worked out fine.”
