🏈 Split National Champions?

If Bama beats LSU, there will be controversy. I think the winner of the Stanford-Oklahoma State will get the AP #1 vote, or LSU might get it.

Of course, if LSU beats Bama there will be no controversy. They will be number one, and deservedly so.

Stanford ain't getting crap. OSU would probably get a few votes from some odd balls trying to make a statement against the system, but not enough to matter. LSU would assuredly get more votes than OSU, as some in the media are already trying to send them the AP title now. In the end, I honestly don't see it being a split title. But as long as Bama takes care of business, I also don't care.

About the only way LSU would lose and still take the AP title would be by a field goal or less at the end of regulation or in OT and IF there was the perception of some awful officiating that benefited Alabama. (And I mean terrible unlike what we are used to seeing.)

Even then I can't imagine a majority of the AP voters would select the loser of that game.

I don't think Alabama will get all the AP votes unless they win big though.

In 2003, the AP split from the BCS and named its own champion, So. Cal. When that's mentioned to fans of LSU (who won the BCS National Championship), the LSUers are adamant in proclaiming their team as the "real" national champs. So, if Bama beats LSU and by some miracle, the Tigers are named champions in the AP Poll, will the LSU fans be hypocritical and claim that title? If it wasn't the "real" title in 2003, it ain't "real" in 2011.

What we have to do is go out and beat them by a touchdown or better.
