-In terms of our passing offense, we are ranked 4th in the League in completion percentage at 64.1%, 8th in yards per game (231.4), and 5th in TD's with 12.

-While we've seen some improvement, Alabama has still thrown 8 INT's, tied for 2nd worst overall. Of note, MSU and LSU have yet to throw an INT on the season.

-On the ground, Bama is 4th in rushing offense behind LSU (obviously), UGA, and Tennessee. The Tide is averaging 198.7 yards per game.

-Bama is tied for dead last with Mizzou in 3rd down conversion percentage at 32.7% (33 for 101).

-The OL has had some issues, but overall, the pass protection has been solid. Bama is tied for 3rd in the SEC in sacks given up with UGA (8). Only LSU (7), and Arky (5) are better, and we've thrown many more passes than those 3 (over twice as many as LSU).

-On the flip side, our stud D-Line is helping lead the way for a defense that leads the SEC with 22 sacks.

-Sticking with defense, the Tide leads the SEC with INT's with 12 (and an impressive 375 return yards).

-Bama has defended 44 passes, leading 2nd best Ole Miss by 13. That's pretty incredible.

-For all his struggles in a 1st few weeks, it's nice to see JK Scott's average climbing... he's sitting at 4th in the SEC at 42.6 yards per punt.

-Between 20-39 yards, Adam Griffin is 7 of 10 this year... from 40+, he's 1 of 4.

-Not shocking at all, but Bama is ranked 11th in KOR at 18.2. That is very ungood.

-Bama is 5th in the League in PPG with 35.6.

-Alabama leads the SEC in penalties with 47 for 423 yards. (That incredibly disciplined auburn team has 27 for 251 yards) Hey Saban, I'd suggest you stop sending film into the SEC office on Monday mornings, pal.

JK's punting was terrific yesterday. Hopefully his avg. will continue to climb.

I know Saban usually tries to downplay sacks, but they are game changers. Teams rarely convert a first down after a sack... It really sets the offense back. So glad to see our talented DL's get loose and put the QB on his ass. Tim Williams has played a lot more the last 2 games and he's a legitimate threat every single pass play.

I've seen that come up with those who are trying to discount the performance of the team Saturday.

I've not seen that come up in terms of A&M only scoring 16 on offense.

But, those turnovers/interceptions! Err, don't see that coming up a lot when people point to the loss to the Black Bears.

As wrong as it may be, I consider the FG kicker to be offense, ( trying to score points) and the punt team to be D (trying to prevent points.
Same as kickoff team is D and KO-return is O.

I know sacks were mentioned a little above, but what about allowing 1 sack against TAMU. TAMU the week prior was #4 in sacks with 3.8 per game. They got 1 against Alabama and Texas A&M has falled to a tie for 9th with 3.33 per game.

Myles Garrett has 7.5 sacks for the year (2 vs Arizona State, 3 vs Nevada, 1 vs Arkansas, 1 vs Miss State, and 1 vs Alabama). Yeah, 3 SEC teams have only given him 1 sack each...

I can see his logic, having played the QB position. It is frustrating as hell to have your passes swatted down, flushed out of the pocket, moved from your mark, have your OL shoved back into your face ( hitting your hand on a helmet hurts like a bitch),having clutter at your feet where you can't step into your throw, and getting knocked on your ass after a throw or on the release. A QB wants a nice clean uniform. All of the above fluster a QB, but agreed that a sack puts the offense begind the chains and stalls momentum and drives.

In my opinion, people take that out of context.

When he's commented on the number of sacks it's always followed a question in one of the pressers. He's not "downplaying" sacks as much as he's pointing to the impact different things can have on the quarterback.

I'm curious. When you think back to 2009 and the game against the Ryan Mallett led UArk team how do you remember Mallett?

I recall running for his life due to the pocket breaking down; a lot. Now, on the other hand there were three sacks in that game as well.

My point being ... both have equal amount of impact on the position.

Another interesting stat from TAMU GBH site.

In the last 15 years, there have been 155 teams that have returned two interceptions for touchdowns, and only 12 of the 155 have lost. There have been just five teams prior to Alabama yesterday that have even returned three interceptions for touchdowns, and all five won, as you'd expect.

Even taking out the touchdowns, since 2000, teams that throw at least four interceptions in a game are 49-558. So a team cannot win when throwing the ball away so much. (One interception was thrown by Kyler Murray Saturday.)
