NEW EDITOR:

In the next few days you'll see the current editor replaced by the version pictured below. What this editor does is no different—the way the user interface operates is where the difference will be found.

In this new editor you'll see one row (when it's finished) as compared to the three you see now. The options will remain the same. Now, they'll be accessed by using a overlay which will drop down when you click on the specific icon that contains the functions you're wanting to use.

If you look at your current editor you'll see the following:

The new editor will look like this (still some style/color changes coming.)

Members Only threads, comments, etc.

There have been a few requests to have areas of the site that aren't available for guests and rivals to view. We're moving to this in a bit of a unique way.

Let's assume you want to ask a question about a rumor you have come across but don't want to spread that rumor around other forums via someone seeing it here and taking it elsewhere. Or perhaps you've received some news you'd like to share, but like the rumor you want to keep it "under wraps" for just the group here at RTB.

Here's how that'll work. Notice the "HIDE" options in the new editor.

That'll be reduced down to one icon as well and viewing it will be limited to members of a new user group. We're dividing the member base into New Members (49 posts or less) and then "Verified Members" for those with post counts equal to or greater than 50. Much like the function of the "spoiler code" content in the hidden areas will only be viewable for established members. In a sense it's just like functions of some of the pay sites where you have to spend $100 just to see some content. Here it'll remain free, but be limited to the requirements listed above.

You've noticed on a few of the pages a new tag cloud that's been added. (bottom, right hand column on this forums' index.)

This addition has a few benefits. One, it improves this sites SEO. Two, eventually it'll build the search base functions here as well.

It's entirely up to you to add tags to threads. If you don't? No big deal. However, I'd ask for a little help now and then to build the database here as quickly and efficiently as possible.

The area to add tags is shown in the picture of the new editor in post number one of this thread.

One more option that's in place but I'm going to leave this up to you to decide whether it's implemented.

As you can see from the tag cloud above, Kirby Smart is one of the keywords listed.

If you guys like the idea and are willing to participate we can implement a hashtag (#) system which will immediately draw up any articles that Kirby Smart has been tagged inside of. This thread I've tagged "football," so clicking on that tag in the cloud will bring up search results for that key word.

This can also be accomplished with [HASHTAG]#football[/HASHTAG].

Again, this is ONLY if you guys want to implement the hashtag system and will use it...so, give me a little feedback.

Last, but not least, the new editor will also allow you to embed HTML. We had this on the old software package and have just now reached the point of adding it here.

There will not be a button. You'll have to use code to do so. That code is

Code:
 [parseHTML] [/parseHTML]

This, like the hide option, will only be available to "Verified Members."

USERS OF CUSTOM TITLES:

The rebuild of the cache when those with 50+ posts to a new usergroup, Verified Member, has changed your custom user title from what you entered to "Verified Member."

I apologize. I didn't realize the rebuild would have that affect. You can change those back now.

Sorry for the inconvenience. (Sue me.)

Speaking of "New Members" and "Verified Members", can anyone tell me why I had to re-join RollTideBama when we changed over? My "joined" date is April of this year, but I've been around much longer than that. Did my deodorant fail?

I can guess but that's about it. I suspect it's because we made the switch and when some of the usergroups were transferred over, some edited, and one deleted, you got caught up on one that was deleted. It's a difference between how vB organized the permissions and user groups versus xF having a hierarchy system where one builds on top of another.

If you want me to change something shoot me a PM through the messaging system.

I think what is going on here is, someone here didn't want you to find us. :neener_neener:
