so now that urban meyer is out..... who will the gators go for??? im thinking the ol' ball coach's name has to be thrown in there.....and lets face it, it would make a good story for spurrier and the gators. not to mention the talent there at florida. and with spurrier really not living up to expectations at south carolina i think he has kind of lost a lil bit of his luster.... but like i said with the talent at florida i believe he could with that talent kind of regain that old spark that made him famous....so what do u guys think???

All I can say is WOW!!!!!!

I have no idea who Florida will get, but if they don't get someone of quality then I am saying it now. Alabama will OWN the SEC for the forseeable future. Not own it. I mean OWNNNNNNNNN it. BAMA was already on that track, but this changes everything.

I think that we'll see UGA have their customary ups and downs, and Kiffin might actually be a better coach than originally thought, but if BAMA takes care of business on their end and Saban continues to work relentlessly, while keeping the program hungary, it's going to get ugly for the rest of college football. Especially for the teams in the SEC.

I'll give Kiffin and Chizik props for getting more with less, but few people realistically thought BAMA would be in the NC game this year and Saban would be dominating at this level in only 3 years.

Is Charlie Strong already locked down contractually? If not, I imagine that he would be on a shortlist of candidates.

Also, what is this going to do to their recruiting and will we possibly pick up any commits from this?

i think if they dont go the route of spurrier, i think dan mullen would be good for them. knows the system, players and recruiting trails. also an offenxive minded coach. ill agree with coloradotide that kyle whittingham is good choice. im not worried about saban, but this does throw one hell of a wrinkle in the picture of the sec east though doesnt it????

So help me, if Florida steals not one, but two of our BCS-winning coaches, I'm going to personally drive down there and kick the heads of everyone at that university. :fight:

I wasn't being flip - if I were the betting sort, this is where I'd put my money.

UF's Machen has strong ties to Utah, they run very similar offense so Wittingham could step in with the existing talent and (possibly) not miss a beat from where they were headed next year anyway.

bob stoops would be a good choice but i think noone will be able to pull him from oklahoma..... i think they will have to force him out. i really think that dan mullen would be close to the top of the list imo. along with whittingham. but i think they will make a serious run for spurrier. i really think their top choice will be a poven head coach...maybe even a bcs title winner already
