šŸˆ So, is Nick still one behind BEAR

Tulane is getting in the act and claim a part of Tennessee's 1998 title for themselves. 1966 was an undefeated Alabama team. Let's get those T-shirts printed.

Two points.
One, IIRC, it seemed to me the '73 Championship was awarded before the Bowl Game. Then, Bama lost to the vile Fighting Irish in a heartbreaker, and that, I believe, was when they stopped awarding the Championships prior to the Bowl games, because some felt that Bama was not deserving of the Title after that loss.
Two, I really don't "claim" the '41 NC. It was awarded to Bama by someone, Bama didn't just claim it. Should they have been deemed worthy of the Title? I wouldn't agree one way or the other, but it was awarded to Bama by some entity that was supposedly a valid Organization. But no, I "claim" nothing, other than what was awarded.

Roll Tide!

Oh, Kentucky does and they should.

By the way, they beat the team that year who made the loudest claim of the 1950 title in the sugar bowl, Oklahoma. Doesn't get much more legit than that. They are not saying they are the only champs that year, but they legitimately are one of the four. Thems the rules.

This trophy didn't look like it was of a vintage to reflect a 1951 victory, so I had to check.

Kentucky creates national championship trophy, Internet laughs

The made the trophy for themselves in 2016. Kind of like aTm adding an old date to their stadium. Or the Peoples Championship.

Right. It is one of the many retro examines that some colleges are doing. As I get it this one is from Sagarin's review based on their computer rating system. But, it's a beauty contest, and she's still got nice legs.

UK 1950 claim is worse than UCF 2017. UK 1950 played 4, that's FOUR, non-1A teams. Lost to the only team they played with a winning record.

No one should get the luxury of comparing UCF's claim against 1950 Kentucky. The only thing the SEC champion Kentucky team has done is throw their hat into a beauty contest. The fact that multiple champions were picked that year only emphasizes the arbitrariness of the rules, qualifications, and results, at hand, every single year. Frankly, no team should feel safe, as far as being scrutinized for their season or opponents. And blue moons are more common than when #1 and #2 teams actually got a chance to play one another in a bowl. How many times do you think an Alabama #2 vs Penn State #1 type teams actually happened?

UCF has introduced themselves as champions in an era of the 4 team playoff. The fact they went undefeated with a mid-tier schedule is not the issue.
