An Alabama football schedule of the future officially shifted in an announcement Thursday.

The Saturday of Sept. 16, 2023 was double booked when South Florida was added to the date over the summer originally occupied by a visit from Western Kentucky.

Well, the Hilltoppers on Thursday announced the visit to Tuscaloosa will be bumped back a year to 2024. That season will open with WKU visiting Bryant-Denny Stadium on Aug. 31. The Hilltoppers, national champions in Division I-AA in 2002, filled that 2023 date with a trip to Ohio State.

Alabama is 3-0 against WKU including a 38-10 win in 2016 made famous for what Nick Saban latter dubbed his “ass chewing” of offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin on the sideline. The Hilltoppers went on to win the Conference USA title and the Boca Raton Bowl that season.

The 2023 season for Alabama includes the Sept. 2 opener with Central Michigan followed by a visit from Texas and the Week 3 trip to Tampa to face South Florida.
