šŸ€ Should there be an "Official Basketball" for the NCAA? (IE: Same ball brand throughout all collegiate play.)

In my opinion, yes. Depending on the set up (floor versus ceiling mounts) rims would be different. I found it difficult enough transitioning from one type of floor to another. Look around the tournament. Glass floors. Parquet, cork, pine...

To me, it seems like IF they could standardize one thing, the ball would be a good place to start.

Maybe Oats should have started using Wilson balls in T-Town during practice before the tournament to remove this as a problem. Both teams are playing with the same ball so mindset can't let it be an excuse. I get it is different so get in the gym and make it a non issue.

That would likely violate a sponsorship agreement.

I guess so but I would think for a week or so a wavier could be granted to help prepare your team for what they are going to see in the tournament. Maybe they tried, but coming in prepared I am sure would be Oats goal. Maybe he tried or just thought it should not be a big deal. It certainly should not be a big deal unless the players make it one. I keep using the word mindset....

There is no such thing. If one brand of ball has a different feel than another, it's not mental. These things are real. That's the reason for the comparison of a goal mounted on the ceiling versus the floor. The rim reacts differently. Physics.

IE: I can hit a Calloway Chrome Soft a lot close to the pin than I can hit a Pro V-1. I can hit a Pro V-1 about 20 yards longer than the Calloway. It's not my mental state. It's the ball. And, a golf ball is more heavily regulated than a basketball.

Understand physics etc.. and not saying that isn't real. I say mindset with regards to how much do you let it effect you. You can't change it so now what? What can you control? Get in the gym and get used to the differnent basketball brand.

And here I thought Terry was a Noodle guy.

A good athlete can always shine no matter what. Tiger Woods can still hit a draw with a Jack Nicklaus 70's club as well as a 90's Calloway iron. Of course everyone is more sharp when everything is analytically tailored to them, but a football or basketball ain't making a difference. I played all sorts of baseball and can tell you one baseball makes no difference over another. Now a rubber tee-ball is gonna be different than a high school game ball, but that is for a reason. No different than an ex-MLB guy hitting a softball a mile with different tools.

I blocked Tom Brady from registering. The last time he chimed in I had to fight off Gisele for days.

A baseball compared to a basketball? That's disappointing in youir effort to exchange barbs for a bit. Go back to your kid striking you out in wiffle ball.

BTW, haven't seen a MLB player hit a softball.

I'm calling you out, you may enjoy golf and play decent, but you are full of absolute shit if you think Tiger can't play golf at a similar level with old clubs compared to new. I'm gonna go ahead and tell you to get over yourself on that one.

Go watch NBA guys at outdoor courts and they dominate. Rims, wind, asphalt is all different yet they still ball out. Plenty of videos to prove my point.

And Tom Brady still wins all of those Super Bowls with a high school ball, college ball, NFL ball, or Canadian ball. Shit ain't changing because it's the talent, not the equipment. Justin Thomas would kick your ass in golf with your equipment, guaranteed.

It hurts you when you're wrong, we've all seen it. You're fucking wrong and you know it. Big man bringing my kid into it, so I know something struck a nerve.

'bout $30 a dozen through W+.

Do you remember the Maxfli Noodle when it came out? Hell, 20 years ago? OH shit, should I go here? Do you golf?
I used to 3-4 rounds a week until 2008, quit cold turkey. You could roll the foil out of the Noodles. I may still have a few sleeves a buddy gave me that he had printed with his account firm’s logo on them. The red, white and blue sleeve box. Long and soft! Best slogan in golf.

So did you start missing shots and turn bad as a player?
Just kept firing away, eventually, some fell!!! I was more of a ā€œtrash basketā€ kind of guy. I wasn’t afraid to get in the paint and mix it up and get putbacks. Now, I did lurk outside and was the right wing filler on fast breaks. I enjoyed rebounding and took pride in it.
My HS coach actually bought both, Wilson and Spaulding and we used both in games. The leather on the Wilson just felt truer and Spaulding sometimes had that ā€œslick almost plastic feelā€.
When I got into coaching, the AHSAA got a contract with Wilson as official sponsor and took the choice out of teams’ hands. While the association got a big hefty check, none of it trickled down to the school’s, not even just a smidgeon of a deal on price! Sucked donkey balls too! Having been the head baseball coach, I had always bought Diamond brand, about $50 a dz, high seams and just a durable ball, Wilson meanwhile, $70 a dz, drop it off a table and the POS was warped. Once bounce of the fence and the leather would have a huge gash in it. Same with other sports, shitty product at $20-25 higher cost.
