Just kept firing away, eventually, some fell!!! I was more of a ātrash basketā kind of guy. I wasnāt afraid to get in the paint and mix it up and get putbacks. Now, I did lurk outside and was the right wing filler on fast breaks. I enjoyed rebounding and took pride in it.
My HS coach actually bought both, Wilson and Spaulding and we used both in games. The leather on the Wilson just felt truer and Spaulding sometimes had that āslick almost plastic feelā.
When I got into coaching, the AHSAA got a contract with Wilson as official sponsor and took the choice out of teamsā hands. While the association got a big hefty check, none of it trickled down to the schoolās, not even just a smidgeon of a deal on price! Sucked donkey balls too! Having been the head baseball coach, I had always bought Diamond brand, about $50 a dz, high seams and just a durable ball, Wilson meanwhile, $70 a dz, drop it off a table and the POS was warped. Once bounce of the fence and the leather would have a huge gash in it. Same with other sports, shitty product at $20-25 higher cost.
