I figure McElroy will be a career back-up. He has above average, not great, arm strength. He has pretty good footwork, he isn't overly fast but has somewhat deceptive speed. I think his biggest problem is holding the ball too long. Whether his receivers just weren't open or he struggled with making the reads, he held the ball too long far too often, especially as a senior. Coverage will only get tighter and schemes more complex--he has a long way to go before he is a viable NFL starter. He would be a solid second day pick-up for a team in need of a back-up.
