The SEC Gymnastics Championship will feature six of the nation’s top-15 teams, including four teams among the top-six nationally. Florida, the defending NCAA Champion, is ranked No. 1, while LSU is No. 2. Alabama checks in at No. 4, while Georgia is No. 6. Auburn is ranked 12th and Arkansas is 15th.

The one-day, eight-team format features two sessions. Seeds five through eight will compete in the first session beginning at 2 p.m. CT, while seeds 1-4 will compete in the second session beginning at 6 p.m. CT. Seeding is based on final regular-season RQS.

Spectators to the SEC Gymnastics Championship will be treated to elite-level competition. SEC gymnastics teams have won eight of the last nine NCAA Championships, including three consecutive and 17 NCAA titles all-time. Three different SEC teams – Alabama, Florida and Georgia – have won NCAA Gymnastics Championships.

Florida captured its first NCAA Championship in program history in 2013. Four SEC teams advanced to the Super Six at last season’s NCAA Championships. The SEC has placed at least two teams among the top six in 30 of the possible 32 NCAA Championship events.

Eight of the nation’s top-10 all-around performers this season hail from the SEC, including each of the top-three. Florida’s Bridget Sloan is the top all-arounder nationally, followed by LSU’s Rheagan Courville and Arkansas’ Katherine Grable.

The 2014 SEC Gymnastics Championship will be aired March 27 at 5:30 p.m. ET on ESPNU and again on March 29 at 11:00 a.m. ET on ESPN2.

As I have said before,if it did not coincide with basketball season, I could be a big time gymnastic fan. I have been to one SEC meet, and it is a great atmosphere. I am considering aking a hoops break and going on down to BJCC tomorrow.

An old pal of mine is a big gymnastics fan. When I asked him why, he said that it was something where he could look ar very attractive young women in skimpy outfits and his wife would not say a thing.

Just a guess, but I'd bet a lot of guys say the same thing—but in reality it's not the truth. I'm fascinated watching all the events, save one. The balance beam is a bit boring to watch although I appreciate the talent and athleticism it requires.

The tourney's aren't TV friendly due to the amount of money (camera's, etc.) they choose to use for the events. But, the tourney's? Good god they are fun to watch...a lot going on.

If I were you, I'd be there.

According to the SEC web site we are champs again. Florida second, LSU third, Georgia 4th. So on to the regionals. No doubt we will host one.

A sidelight: this is now the 110th consecutive meet where we have outscored the boogs. We
began this streak when Coach Bryant was still around.
