Chris Low just put together a chart that shows how the teams have done over the last 5 years. Interesting data, but I want to spin this a bit.

How do things look in the next 5 years.

Mizzou would end up in the high .4 or low .5 win pct area.
Its easy to suggest Vandy will move up, but will Franklin stick around that long.
TAMU should move up, they have their big brother (Texas) right where they want them. Its annoying (TAMU) and funny (Texas) at the same time.
How does Arkansas end up with their new coaching staff?
Can Ole Miss keep Freese and can they develop the talent in the 2013 class and keep it going.
Do we add 2 more schools...

Discuss :)

A snapshot of the past 5 years in the SEC

It's pretty much full speed a head now to the start of spring practice in the SEC.

With that in mind, let's take a closer look at where everybody in the league stands based on what's happened over the past 5 years.

We know Alabama has won three of the past four national championships. We know Vanderbilt is coming off its first nine-win season in nearly 100 years. We know Tennessee has had just one winning season in the last five years. We know that Ole Miss snapped a 16-game SEC losing streak this past season and made it to a bowl game under first-year coach Hugh Freeze. We know Auburn is coming off its first 0-8 SEC record in school history, and we know South Carolina has won 11 games in each of the last two seasons and is one of only six FBS schools to have done so.

Below is a chart that examines what all 14 SEC schools have done over the past five years. We did not include records against SEC teams for Missouri and Texas A&M since last year was their first season in the league.

I'll take a crack at this.

First, Kentucky- they will continue to do what they have been doing. There will be an occasional season where they make it to a minor bowl, but they will continue to be way below .500 in SEC play.

Missouri will struggle, then adjust. Tyey will tick up tiwards the end of the next five, probably with a new HC.

Franklin has done an amazing job at Vandy. As long as they keep him, they will be a factor in the East, though I doubt they ever get the talent level up enough to win it.

Tennessee will struggle, but if they are not too impatient with Butch Jones they will emerge as a big time program once more, towards the end of the next five years.

Georgia will be good, but not outstanding.

South Carolina will continue to be a very tough opponent, at least until Spurrier decides to hang it up.

Florida, under Muschamp, will continue to be the team to beat, year in, year out. I expect to see several more Ala/Fla SECCG.

I don't expect a major Auburn resurgence under Malzahn. They won't be as bad as they were last seaon, but the new has worn off of his offense.

I don't expect Miss St. to do any better than they have done in earlier Mullen years. With the OM resurgence competition for in state players will be much tougher, and they could well slip.

Ole Miss certainly played well down the stretch, and their enthusiasm is very high after a winning season and a great recruiting class. i would be shocked if they were able to step any further than the middle of the pack in the SEC west. If they do, someone will back up the Brinks truck in an effort to hire Freese away from them.

aTm thrived in its first year in the SEC, thanks in large part to Manziel. His Heisman certainly helped recruiting. Thee Aggies have the $ to compete with anyone in facilities and recruiting. Can they sustain the success? My thought is that they will settle into the good but not great category, with 8-10 wins per season.

LSU will continue to be tough as long as Miles stays there, but they definitely need to upgrade their offense. I expect them to continue as the toughest of our regular foes.

Bama will continue to have a roster full of highly sought after recruits. Human nature being what it is, we are bound to have that season where we slip (like 2010) because of a lack of maturity at key positions, but I expect us to make a major run at the NC most of the next five years.

Auburn will have not beaten Alabama since 2010. They'll have 1 win versus LSU, 2 against Georgia, 3 against Ole Miss, sweep Miss State, and 4 wins against Arkansas in a 5 years span...They will have a solid offense, but will have some QB woes (ex: turnover prone) and a sub-par offense.

Kentucky will still be Kentucky. I agree with PJ, they will maybe have a bowl appearance, but will never break .500.

Missouri will have had a few 8-5 seasons, I see them searching for a new HC after 2013, so I see them being sort of a threat, but not much of one. They'll be middle of the pack in the East.

Ole Miss is interesting. I really can't tell until I see how their incoming recruits contribute and if Hue can actually develop the talent he brings in. I think Ole Miss will be reminiscent of what Arkansas was from 06-'11, having one below .500 year in a 5 year span.

Miss State..I've waited for them to become the "dark horse" team, I honestly think Dan Mullen will be somewhere else in 5 years and Miss State will continue to be our punching bag.

Arkansas IMO will be contending for SEC titles in 5 years.

LSU will still be a contender....Physicality, tough, new addition of Cam Cameron will give them a more explosive offense, and just too add to what is already THE TOUGHEST..Yes the toughest..place to play in College Football, they're getting an expansion too Death Valley to push it to over 100,000..So I'm sure when Alabama comes up to play LSU, the Richter Scale will be going off. I see LSU winning, or at least getting, to the title once or twice in a 5 year span and will continue to be a force to reckon with in 5 years.

ATM will be just like LSU, a force to be reckoned with. Them moving to the SEC, they're doing just what we thought they would be doing, just a lot quicker than we though. They're starting to get all of the recruits, who in the past would have went to Texas, will now go to ATM. 5 years from now, ATM will be known as an elite CFB program.

Florida, I agree with PJ, unless USC has something to say, I see them being the team to beat and will be a much more physical team.

Georgia..Well, idk, despite the fact that I don't really think Mark Richt is an elite HC, which is fine, he seems to just always be missing something with his team and it costs him and Georgia a chance a breaking that peak...In 5 years, I don't see Mark Richt with Georgia.

South Carolina will be the same as Georgia, though I do think they will win the SEC East in 2013 though...One cocky(no pun intended) ass fan base though

Vandy will embark a time where it will be great to be a Vandy fan...By their standards...I see a few 9-4 or 10-3 seasons honestly. JF is a damn good HC and has my respect.

Alabama will continue to be Alabama. National prominent, elite, churning in the NFL talent..We will have a few "down" years ( ex: 10-3).

As for any new additions to the SEC..I have no insight/ knowledge on the "Super conference" thing, so this is just a wild guess.. Clemson and Virginia Tech

Tennessee- They will continue to Suck, not sold on the Butch Jones Hire. They will be Annexed into T-Town and regularly be Bama's Bitch.
Missou- Suck, Suck, and even more SUCK from them, at least they have Basketball
Florida- Muschamp will feild a Solid Defense and start to get the fact that the Fans want more offense, he will oblige some what. Which in turn will make them the cream of the east.
South Carolina- Spurrier's head will explode and brain matter will be all over Williams-Brice Stadium, they will field decent teams until Spurrier's unfortunate head trauma.
Georgia- Richt will be spoken in the same sentence as Hot-Seat for all 5 years, they will be decent but start to turn into a cheap wine like Mad Dog 20 20 during the cocktail parties.
Vandy- Franklin will get a new gig somewhere, prob Auburn or UT, cause one of those two coaches wont pan out. They will be better than UT and Kentucky for 1 more year.
Kentucky- Halftime events will be the entertainment. They better hope they field Hot Cheerleaders, Commonwealth will turn into a giant Black Hole, and suck all 5 fans in and they wont be missed. Again... see Missou, atleast they have Basketball.
Auburn- 8 win season is the best they will do, their defense will suck which is what will cost them some games. They will be on the same level as Ole Miss and State. They will turn to "Tipping" cows after football events because they cant find Toomers corner for some reason. A couple of those cows will be named Harvey or Updyke.
LSU- Will have a down year this year but be a 9 to 10 win team 4 out of the 5 years. Miles Hat will be his saving grace it will protect him from a drunken fan that slings a bourbon bottle his way next year.
Ole Miss- Will come out decent for 3 out of the 5 years and have one 9 win season. then it will be back to Hotty Toddy in the grove for entertainment. Freese will get cherry picked by a better football school.
Miss State- Will start to suck Next year, and they will run Mullen out of town within 5, they will hire a coach that resembles their bulldog cause nobody even cares.
Texas A&M- They will be tough the next 2 years and have a shot at the west if they can beat Bama, Have to see their O-line this year. Someone will dropkick Johnny football Bobby Boucher style cause they will get tired of him unveiling the superman chest.
Arkansas- They will suck for the next two years and start to make a move on 8 to 9 wins in their third year with Bielema. We will see 50,000 different pictures with Bielema riding a hog.
Alabama- Continue to crank out NFL caliber players, have solid seasons and be a top 5 team with chances at 2 NC's. Talk of Saban going Pro will continue, Kirby Smart will come up regularly as a possible Head coach, and Bama 66 will have heart issues if anymore players decide to rob or beat down fellow students.
