The Southeastern Conference may have a home for traditionalists after all.

SEC athletic directors lobbying to maintain permanent cross-divisional football matchups such as Alabama-Tennessee and Auburn-Georgia feel better about their cause compared to a week ago. League ADs met last Wednesday in Nashville, the site of the SEC women's basketball tournament, to begin discussing football schedules for the 2013 season and beyond, and they will resume talks Wednesday in New Orleans, the site of the men's tournament.

Interesting read but I just dont see it happening. Going 6+ years without seeing a team (barring the Conference Championship game) seems a bit much. I personally would love to keep UT on the schedule just because I despise that pitiful excuse for a school (I despise the entire of state of MS more however- sorry to any MS citizens out there but seriously, that place is horrible. I think the general population of Alabama citizens would be game for giving yall Montgomery and in return yall move a little farther away) sorry, rambling....

And of course MSU would like to play Kentucky every year, and it would make sense to just have A&M and Mizzoo play each year, but i still think some of the smaller football schools like Vandy or Kentucky would want to go 6+ years without bringing in an Bama or LSU to sell out the stadium and be on national TV, etc.

If it's a 9 game SEC schedule then I assume it would be 6 from your own division, 1 permanent, and 2 rotating home and home games right?

I mentioned in another conversation yesterday that I felt there were a lot of different agenda's on the table. It's also my opinion— if you take all the SEC's Pres., AD's, and coaches—that some will think they are one of the 40 something "chiefs" in the room and the fact of the matter is they only have a nice head-dressing because they are in the SEC.

I'm beginning to tire of a lot of meetings that end without anyone knowing which direction we are going. If I recall the comment correctly, one said, "we'll go home and think about it for a week." To do what, come back next week with more questions and then ask for another week to ponder those answers (a word that could be replaced by hypotheticals.)

Here's one concern. Are there plans in the works for the SEC to move to 16? If so, are we not back in the same situation we are now? I'd hope they are planning on taking that into consideration when they design this.

FWIW, I don't see how they can not have six divisional games unless we end up with a real screwed up tie-breaker system much like the B1G has been dealing with for the last several years. If we ended up with only five divisional games and had two undefeated teams at the end what are they going to use as a tie-breaker? The BCS rankings?

Here's one to chew on...and it brings the conversation back, at least near, to the point we started. IF it was standings that determined a tie-breaker, wouldn't a team want a quality OOC team on their resume to boost their ranking?
