Believe you me. I DO understand.
The other day I was accused of being lazy. I thought it was about the wood remnants I'd left by the fire pit. I was wrong. Let me tell ya something about this lady. She has Door dash deliver her coffee in the morning.
AND...I'm lazy because I have a Keurig in my bedroom. Get outta bed, press a button, go piss, and my coffee is ready. I never leave the bedroom...and I'M lazy?

My wife & daughter spent almost all of our time with my mom & dad during their later years. You are correct about the slowing down (and it bothering you) - that’s your hero!
I’ll tell you this: waking up at 2:00 am & not having regrets about how you treated your parents is invaluable
That is tough to watch. Dad was still busy into his 80's but had started slowing down. Basically was active up until the day he passed suddenly around Christmas 3 years ago. I could use his knowldege and advice these days. Enjoy your parents while you can.
The old Coach Bryant Bell South commercial. Talks of calling your mother. Off script he said, “I sure wish I could call mine”. Obviously, it was a huge success.
