| FTBL SEC Championship Game

Thoughts? Can UGA go 2-0 against Texas?

This is going to be a hard one to watch. Do not care to see either of them win honestly. Certainly do not want Texas to come in the league in year one and win it. Those guys have a large enough of an ego w/o that happening.

UGA can certainly beat them again and this time will have the home field type atmosphere to help some. I don't know who I want to win... I lean Texas for now, but that may change. Mrs. Van de Graaff had a Christmas party tentatively scheduled for that night at the house, barring Bama not playing in the SECCG. I gave her the green light last weekend... but I'll sit on the patio by the fire pit and watch the game... just wish it was a night game instead of late afternoon. Oregon/PSU and Clemson/SMU does nothing for me in terms of entertainment value.

I think Georgia can take them again. I feel the same way you do. Herbstreit made a comment tonight about "Texas walking to the back tees to play in the SEC" yadda yadda, and it rubbed me the wrong way. I hate Texas almost as much as Ohio State, but when I look at their strength of schedule compared to the other SEC programs ranked in the Top 20, and it's clear how they are in this position. They got the old Georgia treatment with their schedule. Georgia likely beats them by two touchdowns I feel.

You may or may not know this but Texas is still one of the few that has a winning record against Bama. I think we may have been something like 0-7 against them until the 2009 NC win. If I recall correctly Bryant never beat them. Texas and ND were really the only two programs for a long time that had Bamas number. Small list of programs that can say that.

I’ll check in on it while I’m the woods this weekend with my Dad.
Beating a team twice in a season is pretty tough in football. UGA gets the “home field advantage” this time. Sark is a sharp one on offense and Kirby is pretty damn sly on the defensive side.

This is exactly what they wanted: a team from Texas (preferably brand new SEC member Texas) against UGA. In a year when the SEC title game means less than it ever has before, they needed the subsidy of the home state team (Georgia) to face a ego-driven program like Texas who wants to prove they’re worthy to be considered in the elite of the SEC. Otherwise I’d have guessed that we would see the lowest attendance ever for this game, which still may occur since both teams are playoff bound regardless.

Spend as much time with your Dad as you can. (I know people say it all of the time) But when those days are gone, they are gone.
Can't put a $$ value on it!
