🏈 SDS: 5* QB's and RB's - Have they lived up to the hype?

In the last decade, there have been 28 QB's and 49 RB's rated as 5* (based on 247sports composite rankings). TerryP touched on this topic in the Ricky Town or Jacob Coker thread.

They also mention QB's and RB's in each recruiting class that weren't ranked as 5*. I think this is a good list, but I think its important to understand the dynamics of the team for those who haven't panned out. Was it really a recruiting miss or did it have something to do with the environment at college? Did they have to deal with coaching changes, did they get developed, did injuries impact their development, did the coaches fully utilize their talents.

This is the part I'd love for them to analyze further...

Building on a couple of your thoughts here, planomateo

On the QB article, one of the QB's he said "lived up to the hype" was Tyrod Taylor (Va Tech.)

His reasoning: "The dual-threat Hokies star had a great career in Blacksburg. Taylor threw for 7,017 yards, 44 touchdowns and 20 INTs, and he also rushed for 2,196 yards and 23 touchdowns. He backs up Joe Flacco in Baltimore."

Breaking that down that's roughly 10 TD's passing per year, six rushing. He's not breaking the 2000 yard mark per year passing, barely breaking 500 rushing.

The team had double digits in total wins each season but never lost less than three games as well. They had back to back losses in three of the four seasons always dropping one, if not both, to mediocre teams.

And he lived up to the hype?

I'm not sure what I think about Mallett.
