🏈 Scout vs. Rivals Rankings

On Scout, DeVonta Bolton and the recruit from Pleasant Grove, Brandon Lewis, are both listed in this season's list of recruits. Pleasant Grove is my city, btw. I have seen Brandon play 2 or 3 times.

I don't like that. Rivals does it much better, in my opinion, by not listing the JC guys who were getting their grades up that were also listed last year. Do Bolton and Lewis count against this season's limit?

Do they count or not? That question reveals a lot about my knowledge of the inside workings of the recruiting game. The first 20 or 25 are supposed to be all that are actually counted anyway, correct? By counted, I mean counted in the rankings.

I just confused myself, so if I get no response I totally understand.

while in HS, they all count in the rankings, because the rankings are final before anyone knows if players will make the grades or not. After it's determined that the grades won't be there, and they go to JC, if they still show up as a recruit, then their ranking counts in the school's ranking.

I think I'm right, please tell me if I'm not.

There's a limit, or a structure in place, so kids don't count year after year.

For instance, Kerry Murphy was counted towards two classes but wasn't counted last class and that's the one he actually came in with (those who enrolled in January.)

I suspect it's not determined from our staff as of this point if Lewis and Bolten will be a part of the 2010 class. One reason is the belief if they don't have their grades in good enough shape to report in January they won't report in the summer.

That's just speculation on my part—nothing more than speculation.

One thing that really differs between the two services is the number of revisions to rankings both do...Rivals does several. Last season, even as late as the end of the fall, Scout still had their rankings based on spring evaluations.
