I just don't see how USC is built to stand up to the pounding that's coming? Coach Saban is going to make this a LOS contest as it almost always is. If you aren't built to handle the between the tackles assault on the defensive front seven you are going to come up wanting, especially in the second half. Between injuries and graduation, their front seven is small and young and thin in the ranks. Last year, with all the senior talent and depth they still gave up over 400/game. Just don't see the recipe for beating the Tide with the defense they put on the field this weekend.

Big bodies

And, if there's a spot where first-game jitters can be an issue, USC won't be breaking in a single new starter on the offensive line. Phil Steele's preseason magazine ranked the Trojans offensive front the top unit in the nation. Tackle Zach Banner is a potential All-American while guard Damien Mama could enter that discussion.

Alabama brings one of the nation's best defensive lines to Texas. It just won't be as deep as last year's group that could be the best in program history. The USC front will have to protect first-year starting quarterback Max Browne, a former national high school player of the year who isn't the most mobile passer. Continue reading...
So there's potential there that our D-Line might get accused of slapping somebody's Mama? :bamadance:

Khaliel Rodgers talks about the transition to defensive line, what he's learned from graduate transfer Stevie Tu'ikolovatu and what he expects from Alabama.

Khaliel Rodgers knows about life in the trenches, but Saturday will be the first time he’s went to battle from the defensive side…and he’s doing it against the defending national champions.

“It’s going to be a fist fight. It’s going to be a real good game.”

Since making the switch to the defensive line, Rodgers has been working hard to learn the ins and outs of playing nose tackle in Clancy Pendergast’s defensive system. He’s turned his athleticism into a weapon and is working to learn the skills to help make that shine.

“Just honing in on the technique,” Rodgers said. “When you already have the athletic ability, it's there, so you just have to learn the technique to use it.”

Rodgers has had a good mentor in 25-year-old graduate transfer Stevie Tu'ikolovatu. Rodgers said he often picks the former Utah Ute’s brain to learn more about the defensive line craft.

“He's been playing d-line damn near all of his life, so he's been giving me tips of how to do certain things. As a d-lineman in general, it's been amazing to learn from him.”

USC Trojans football team has a tall task ahead of them this weekend as they travel to Dallas to face the defending college football national champion Alabama Crimson Tide on a neutral field at AT&T Stadium.

Before the team departed for Texas on Wednesday, the players made one final trip into the locker room -- only to be surprised with a motivational gift from the athletic department: customized Jordan 12 sneakers.

Will this affect the result of the game? Only time will tell, but just like Major Jean Villeneuve said in The Patriot before going into the final battle vs. England: "If I'm going to die, then I'm going to die well-dressed."

The Trojans are currently 11.5-point underdogs against Bama, and if they do indeed get blown out by the defending champs -- hey, at least they will do so well-dressed.
