Apparently, former Clemson offensive coordinator Billy Napier has been hired on Alabama's support staff.

I'm really intrigued by this hire. Young guy who has been lauded for his recruiting abilities (he served as Clemson's recruiting coordinator from 2006-08). I think this is a super hire by Saban that will benefit both UA (short run) and Napier (long run).

Napier was let go from Clemson around the 1st of Jan. Before then? Not sure how much contact he had with him... All's I know is I would be utterly shocked beyond words if Clowney were to announce for UA.

I haven't been keeping up with the Clowney situation that much, but I have noticed two coaching pickups from Clemson this offseason. Then I think about Clowney dropping Alabama from his "short list" and saying its between USCEast and Clemson. I know that these guys like to be theatrical with their college picks and I was putting the Clemson recruiting thing together with the theatrical aspect and wondering out loud if there might be something there.

From afar it makes me wonder if it was a case of him rising too fast too quickly. It has certainly happened to others who followed a similar quick climb up the ranks, fresh out of school.
