🏈 Saban admits to Chewing Kiffin's ass

It's not like Saban can chew his own ass... Reminds me of those times that something/someone gets me all riled up and the next person catches every bit of my rage.

Just watching the brief clip, I bet Saban regrets the "ass chewing" comment to the press. His body language appeared to change after that statement...I still need to watch the whole presser to confirm that thought.

At some point, you have to dignify people and that's where Saban comes close to stepping over the line at times. I totally get the real time burst of anger, or frustration, or whatever is eating a person in the moment. You're the boss and Saban's trying to fix problems and make adjustments in real time. But the presser is not those times and this your staff and your players. It's never good to demand all the respect in the world and not give it in return. Especially I would think you need to be careful if your guys can't speak for themselves to even explain if that's a big deal to them. The sideline wasn't the bad look to me, it was the shot he took when the pressure wasn't on.

So the very first game in which Lane's buddy Sark is in the booth "assisting" with the offense where we are obviously working on our passing game and jet sweeps (in preparation for a team Ole Miss) who, judging from the Florida State game, seem to be somewhat susceptible to that sort of offense and Saban rips into Lane for poor decision making. You have to nip it in the bud from the getgo....does Sark now know what is expected from him and Lane? Does he now know that such things are not tolerated? Maybe I am way off base but I think he felt he needed to make a point with both of them and a public one to boot.

In the context of everything that happened yesterday, how different is saying it was an ass chewing versus saying they ran through us like shit through a tin ... whatever that was. Tin horn? Was it the MSU week where he went off and people got upset about him saying I don't give a shit who we're playing the fans need to ...?

His comments are often described as being over some proverbial line. But seriously, who didn't see this one coming?

Figuratively, you know he's going to go off. Soon. He's going to use something to make a point.

Looking at it from an ends' result, these things tend to be pretty well timed, right?

Absolutely! He has a pattern of popping off when he wants to make a point about something the team is having trouble with, I am of the mindset that the good outweighs the bad plus I suffer from "Ready, Fire, Aim" myself so I can relate. lol

It seems you and I are the only ones up this morning. :-)

Have you every opened your mouth while getting it chew by your boss?
Yep and after working there for 14 years, that was my last day. My boss was an asshole, from day 1, I put up with it for 14 years but finally snapped. He was wrong about what he was accusing me of, so I let him know it. He was dressing me down in front of everybody, on something he was 100% wrong about, so I let him have it back. He told me to go home and then as I stormed out, he proceeded to try and tackle me. He claimed he thought I was going to damage something on the way out, his pitiful excuse for being an idiot. He ended up paying me 6 months severance for that. He also ended up losing 1/3 of his customers because they all liked me and I was also the only one there that knew how to work on their systems. Also lost several other techs, soon after. They waited until they found new job, I sat at home and applied for jobs, while being paid for 6 months.

Not saying Saban is anything like my former asshole boss. I think he actually wants the best for his coaches and players.

In games like this one, where we won handily but were very sloppy, he tends to go ballistic. I think that is on purpose. Look at him in games where they barely pulled it out, he tends to be supportive but go after the media instead. He is playing mind games, to get the best out of his coaches, players and us fans. Bryant used to do the same thing, except with a little less profanity(where the media could hear). You have to know when to get on them and when to hug them.

Georgia Southern and that damn triple option.

There is, after all, no margin for error, no time for a learning curve. Not at Alabama, where championships are the only goal, where a 9-3 season would be a disaster on the level of an earthquake causing a tsunami during a volcano. It's not fair to lay that all on Crimson Tide fans. The coaching staff has the same expectations.

That's why Saban is at his most feverish, in terms of evaluation, not after a loss. Losses tend to be self-correcting. What worries him most -- and this isn't just true of this season, but of every season when the Crimson Tide is coming off a title run -- is the comfortable-looking win, the kind that is a Petri dish for bad habits. That's what he's guarding against. That's why the players quite likely got blistered after the game. It's certainly why offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin will have to spend a portion of this week's pay raise to buy some new britches, ones without the shredded seat that Saban left behind in a final-minute tirade.
