Seen this on the Insiders over at ESPN. Just curious to if anyone from inside has heard anything ? I think we have a ton of talent that may get hired else where in promotions, but what coordinator would leave to GA ? They have the D position available but do you think Kirby would leave Alabama when were starting to peak ?

Steele and Thompson left last season. Coach Sal is strongly mentioned for a position at Florida State. Coach Smart is also rumored to be in for a position at Florida State and a fan favorite at UGA.

As long as Saban is here, we might as well understand that our coach staff will be looked at hard by schools every year who are trying to upgrade their staff.

To answer the question though, I don't see Smart leaving for a job title he already has. I can see him stepping up to a headcoach before too much longer though.

I can also see Sal taking a coordinator position at FSU if it is indeed offered.

From what I understand, Smart is not likely to go to UGA with Richt there. I've heard there is some bad blood between them.

Smart isn't going anywhere til he gets a HC job.

The FSU job would be a nice move for Coach Sal. However, Fisher's time at FSU will be short if he doesn't produce pronto. Many FSU supporters view him as being a part of the problem and he will have a short leash. The HC in waiting has been a real negative for their program. Many would like to fire them all and start fresh, but that would carry a hefty price tag.

I haven't believed from day one that Kirby would leave to go home to UGA only for Richt to get canned in the next year or so. I feel he leaves for a HC job somewhere. Coach Sal is a man that may want a DC job or he may not . You never know what coaches like. He may enjoy just the coaching aspect and not worrying about the whole scheming and planning aspect.

I would guess that Smart has to consider who he wants to work for: Saban or Richt, The University of Alabama or Georgia. Where does his family want to live and do they want to relocate again right now? What are his chances as far as his stock as a DC and will those stocks climb or fall with a move or in staying? Does winning matter? Obviously, if he stays he has a better chance at winning. What is his relationship with his current players? No one knows the answer to these questions but Kirby Smart.

Smart is not the first DC at Alabama and he won't be the last.
