Hey I saw this over at tigerdroppings.com and it seems to have some legs to it. I am not positive but I believe Juio and Mark went on a cruise paid for by boosters. Here is a summary of the thread that can be found here http://www.tigerdroppings.com/rant/MessageTopic.asp?p=13625605&Pg=1 It's at 16 pages now, so good luck:

Julio and Mark are friends with two Auburn girls, whose father happens to be an Auburn booster, and owner of Eagle Supply on the Gulf Coast. There are plenty of pictures out there to confirm that. This has nothing to do with Alabama, Auburn, or anyone else for that matter cheating, or setting Alabama up. This has to do with the players' amateur status. Once they receive extra benefits, no matter who its from, they are automatically in the wrong. The only way Alabama is endangered is if they play those players, but the AD is well aware of the situation, and the proper measures are being taken. So, no rushing to conclusions, and proclaiming, that 'Bama boosters are "running Saban out of town" is just plain stupid, but go ahead and root for Georgia if you want.

Nothing really to discuss. There is an issue and the AD is aware of it. There is no NCAA issue and will not be. It will be handled by the A.D. and all we can do is wait and see. I would anticipate some kind of suspensions, but time will tell exactly what they are.

I've been wondering all weekend when someone was going to bring this up over here. If Julio & Mark are going to bring trouble like this to the University, then I don't want them on the team. I don't give a damn how good Julio is.

Since it's only a rumor, how bout we wait till we hear all the facts before we crucify them...

to me that says it all.....

If it is true...they did not use much of their brain..

plus...
There are plenty of pictures out there to confirm that.

these I would like to see, since there are obviously PLENTY of them.

Yeah, I would like to hear more about this too. Especially more of what Big Fan seems to know (NOT calling you out Big Fan - just noticed that you seem to confirm the gist of the story and alerted us to a probable 'suspension' of some type).

OK, this is what this appears to be from what I've heard.

Mark and Julio had a little fun with two friends of theirs. They went out with two girls on a little fishing expedition/excursion type of trip. The two girls they went with go to school at Auburn, their father from what I understand is an Auburn fan.

However, where they go to school or where the dad is a fan of really has no consequence in this matter.

Both players should have ok'd the trip through the Ath. Dept. but they didn't. Since then, the cost of the trip has been reimbursed.

The only thing this brings into play is "amateur status." Therein, the reason the trip was reimbursed.

At this point, there hasn't been any news that I can find out about suspensions, if that is indeed what happens.

IF it results in the kids getting suspended, it'll likely be for one game. That's the normal MO for these things. But, that isn't a given.

It's not a NCAA matter no matter what you might see some people try to elude.

Two kids, with two friends, going out having some fun in the summertime. It really stinks that this is part of the NCAA amateur rule system, but it is.

Any over-reaction on this this story is just that, over-reaction.

I'm sure Coach Saban will address this later on, but for now there isn't anything else to be known about this.

Let's see. One game possible suspension.

Likely starting TB. Best WR in the conference. Easily the first and second best playmakers on a offense that will have to feel its way around the first part of the schedule with a new QB and a completely rebuilt offensive line (that has shown even the previous model was a clunker without Andre Smith).

First game a national game against a team known for stout defensive play and will be a probable Top Ten unit with a chip on its shoulder and trying to make a national statement.

Not real good news for our side.

That of course if the 'IF' is accurate.

Oh yeah. I was not really reacting yet, over or appropriate or under. Just tying to learn more about this - something I actually first heard about on a Gator site (referencing the Auburn site). (Lady in that thread also said she has a daughter at UA who is reporting that she - the daughter - has seen Julio riding around campus in an Escalade. Will this story ever die?)

I wasn't referring to you in the slightest when I mentioned over-reactions. But, anyone reading this thread from the first post through to the last post can easily determine which post(s) are over-reactions.

If this lady can't tell the difference in an Escalade and a Tahoe that is several years old...well, I'll be kind and say I wouldn't want her to appraise real estate.

"Warsh it an'll luk guud iz nu" probably a phrase spoken often in her family.

Still no picks... I am thinking this is a bunch of BS. I know that our rivals would have these picks all over the net by now. I can't find one, facebook included. Does anyone have even one pic of this trip? Supposidly the abundance of pics is overwealming. How come they cannot be found?

I know. And I should have made my response a little more clear. No offense was taken. (I think, from all our PMs and forum discussions, I am pretty transparent when I think I have been dissed in some way.)

To clarify the issue with Julio's ride. It was the daughter who attends UA that reported to her mother the identity of the vehicle. The lady was merely repeating what her daughter said. I questioned the accuracy of her daughters eyesight or knowledge of car makes and models. All the car talk came up in the thread about Julio and Ingram taking a booster paid 'cruise' was in response to me bringing up the point that some might want to take anything said on a Barner website about 'bammer' violations with a grain of salt since the Barners have been running around saying that a Gadsden booster was giving away brand new Cadillac Escalades from his (now closed) Chrysler dealership (look closely at those details was my advice).
