Let me start off by saying the game was hard to watch for all of us. I will leave discussion for that to another thread.

As I walked in to my living room this morning I was talking with my brother (another avid Bama fan) and I could sense he was wanting me to commiserate with him.

Not a chance.

Sure the season ended on a bad note but that is no reason to hang our heads.

As I said prior to the Auburn game, I don't really care what happens this year as long as we beat Auburn. Well, we did allot more than that. This 2008 Alabama football team and it's Head Coach have made me happy all season long. A loss last night and the loss to Florida do nothing, and I mean nothing to diminish that.

This season was beyond my WILDEST expectations. We played in the freaking Sugar Bowl and went undefeated this year all while TROUNCING UT, UGA, LSU and Auburn!! I will give a BIG Roll Tide to that.

I know many of you feel exactly the same way I do. Maybe the shock is still to new. Shock that we lost to what most of the country thought was a team we would be easily. Guess what? No shame in losing to them. Disappointment maybe, but no shame. They are a good team. All those Utes were right... their team is underrated.

Here is to a MAGNIFICENT season for Alabama. We are way ahead of schedule. Let's be positive and move forward with a good attitude about the comming years. Be honest, did any of you see us beating ALL of our rivals and playing in the SECCG? Did any of us think we were going to the Sugar Bowl?

We beat Auburn 36-0! :) Roll Tide to that.

The future is bright y'all.

Roll Tide!

I whole heartedly agree with everything you said!!!

However, since we did make the Sugar Bowl, it would have been nice if we'd bothered to get off the bus!

Nobody expected us to go 12-0, be #1, and have a shot at the national title.

However (once again) that still doesn't mean we shouldn't be down right embarassed by the Sugar Bowl. The whole country watched us get our arse kicked.

As Bama fans, WE CARE about being 12-0 and being ahead of schedule. However, from an outsiders viewpoint, all they will do is laugh, call us overrated, and write us down as the biggest embarassment of the bowl season.

I agree with your post and the positive outlook, but if we are going to the Sugar Bowl...bother to show up, please.

Nobody expected us to be in the Sugar Bowl, and our players acted like they didn't expect it either. Sad but true.

MAJOR credit to Utah, but they beat a cheap high school team last night. Injuries, no Smith...it doesn't matter. We came out flat as a pancake and got drilled.

This was the worst game by an Alabama team since La-Monroe; and this was on a national stage.

We couldn't have beaten Auburn last night.

Roll Tide!

Right on Swamptick! Any season where we hammer the barn and the viles has to have a whole lot else to go wrong for me to consider it unsuccessful.

I think there is a good lesson here. During the last offseason and on into the fall our guys found out what happened when they bought into "The Process", behaved themselves, worked their tails off in the weight room, conditioning and practice. They won, even against teams that had more good athletes than we did. Last night they learned that the process is a never ending thing. How you got ready for and played against Auburn had no effect on preparation and play agaionst Utah. Last night, even though we had more good players and bigger good players we got our head handed to us.

Good point and I agree.

Again another good point. I am going to have to make a point not to listen to too much sports radio in the comming weeks.

I do regret that now people are sure to blast Bama football as overrated. Still, I think it has as much to do with Utah being underrated.

Great post RollTide1980.

I'll admit, I love Finebaum...but you couldn't pay me to listen this week!
Especially since he pretty much said we COULD NOT LOSE!

Like the old expression goes:

"If you think the game is not important...just trying losing it."

I thought maybe nine wins anyone who comes over to this board and thinks for a moment that any of us predicted a National Title or even 12 wins is smoking crack!

I think we all were suprise at how quickly Saban turned it around!

The future looks so damn bright for the Tide! I can't wait for the next couple of years it is going to be one hell of a ride! RTR! cool8)

The hardest part about losing the other night is the bitter taste it leaves for the next 8 months...8 months!

You have to go back 4 months to remember that great Clemson victory and 3 months for the UGA one. Honestly I can barely remember some in between. I thought I'd never feel anything but joy after that wonderful Auburn game.

Now, it's hard to remember how good I felt about Alabama football. :? I'm not trying to be negative. The whole end of the season really has me down. Just not the way I envisioned it. Hopefully when the sting of the last 2 games has subsided I can go back and reflect on what a great regular season it was.
