🏈 Ricky Town leaves USC and transferring to Arkansas

I don't blame Sark for blocking all the schools they are playing. It would be a bad look to lose to you're old QB, especially if he went to a non AQ school like Utah State and beat your ass. This is big business... Lots of money and careers on the line, and the deck is stacked against the players. It is what it is

Former USC QB Town to transfer to Arkansas

Ricky Town didn't waste any time making up his mind.

Only days after the former blue-chip quarterback prospect elected to transfer out of USC before finishing his first fall camp with the Trojans, ESPN reported Friday that Town has decided he will play for Bret Bielema and Arkansas. 247Sports reported Town took a trip to the Razorbacks' Fayetteville campus on an official visit this week.

""This is the first time my family had been to Arkansas and it was great," Town told ESPN. "We fell in love with the place."

Town enrolled at USC in time for spring camp but entered fall No. 3 on the Trojans' depth chart behind senior starter Cody Kessler and redshirt sophomore Max Browne.

Earlier this week 247Sports reported that the competition for Town's services had already been whittled down to the Hogs and Florida. First-year Gators play-caller Doug Nussmeier had been the offensive coordinator at Alabama when Town committed there in 2013, but despite that connection Town declined to visit Gainesville before deciding on the Hogs.

Town will not be eligible in 2015 and will sit out a redshirt year, but Arkansas starting quarterback Brandon Allen is a senior and the job is expected to be wide open entering 2016.

I understand it is BIG money, but playing a non AQ school that received your 4th string QB isn't going to scare anyone. Non AQ schools are that for a reason. They don't get the 85 horses like a BAMA or USC. Town wouldn't have made Utah State or Arky State better than USC.

Yesterday, the lady I know out there said, "isn't this what most schools do, anyway?"

I know I've seen, countless times, schools restrict transferring to another in-conference school. Now, a restriction on every school during the players years of eligibility? I don't recall seeing that.

OR, realized that Sark isn't a lot different than Kiff?

I've actually got a good friend out there that's pretty well connected ... I'll see what she (Yes, SHE) knows.

She was spot on about Pete Carroll wanting Bama as the opponent in the Chick-Fil-A Kickoff Classic in 2013 or 2014 when Gary Stokan had the tentative agreement with them to play in one or the other of those years. Hell, I couldn't verify it and I was a member of the Atlanta Sports Council at the time. But it became quite obvious she was correct when Stokan began negotiating with Bama and wound up contracting them for both years when USC bailed out when Carroll left.

I think it happens all the time. If I was a head coach, no way I would want to play one of my QB transfers... It isn't going to be beneficial.

There are tons of schools out there. Town found a good situation, no harm done.
