🏀 Rick Barnes remains at UT: UCLA hires some Bama fans choice for HC in Mick Cronin

It's amazing how determined some less than power 5 schools are to being very good in basketball. Marquette, Cincy, VCU and others get their head coaches plucked by power 5 schools every few years and somehow reload and keep on marching to the NCAA tourney. Folks that are determined to be great at something can accomplish amazing things.

Well....they go out and recruit basketball players....
A "team" of 5 can beat a group that has some superstars with individual play....
If you can get 5 to play together..... you will have winners

Remember Bama after Bear.....

Almost identical in many ways. Coach Wooden was followed by Coach Bartow, Cunningham, Brown, Farmer, ???? and Alford. Bartow and Cunningham did fine jobs but the fan base was use to winning the NC every year and losing 1 or 2 games was not good enough. Back then the overall field was very limited, 16 and then jumped to 32. Larry Brown took them to the NC game if memory serves but they lost against Louisville I believe.

We wondered around "Egypt' for many years until we had a cup of coffee with Coach Stallings in 92 winning the NC. Perkins, Curry, Franchoine, Price, Dubose and Shula left a lot to be desired with the Bama faithful. In fact, some years it was just plain ugly.

Howland was in that mix as well and carried them to 3 straight Final 4 appearances. You also had Hazzard, Harrick, and Lavin before Howland.
