Kentucky is in 11 personnel in this clip, up to this point in the game, Kentucky has shown this same look and ran out of it numerous times. Watch Reuben before the snap, he appears to yell to his team where the play is going pre-snap. As soon as the ball is snapped, he is coming downhill to fill his gap, shoots through it, takes on the TE coming from the backside of the play to block, wins against him, and almost makes the tackle with the TE still on him. Also, great team defense from everyone, every gap was filled, and if the RB somehow managed to bounce it outside, he'd still have the Safety that came down in the box to deal with, as well Shaun Dion-Hamilton flowing over the top, who could run him down sideline to sideline, or come downhill and make a tackle.

Here's another clip of that same formation by Kentucky. Shaun Dion Hamilton takes his read step, fills his gap while keeping his shoulders squared to the LOS. Has both his head and eyes up, reads his keys, sees the RB is going to bounce it outside, he's able to quickly change direction and come downhill, closes the space between him and the RB, and makes a great tackle on the RB.
Well, they WERE taught by an absolute defensive genius. I'm sure he taught them how to read the offense, learn patterns and personnel and what teams tend to run with both of those at the same time.

Nice to see defense played the way it is supposed to be played! Thanks for sharing. Of course, we are looking at a different era of football, now we have throw it on every play.
