| PRO Reuben Foster Kneeling During National Anthem

Yea but but what about..... Same rhetoric.

How is it extreme? Does the NFL and its athletes support and show support for Breast Cancer awareness? Without any backlash.

I didnt make a claim that 100% of cops that did wrong got off. That was an assumption on your part.

I do agree with a high percentage of what you said. Although I do disagree with the statement about "going about it the wrong way" just because many don't agree with it, doesn't mean its wrong.

And there is an assumption that the only thing these guys are doing is just kneeling. There are individuals that are actually doing other things to in and around their community. But the media doesn't show it, because it isn't click bait.

As far as patriotism goes, would many of you be upset if you were on a military base and the anthem played and you saw members in uniform still walking around, still talking, still smoking, carrying on about their day. Without acknowledging the flag and paying respect.

I enjoy a majority of the individuals I interact with on this site, as well as my love for Bama football. So I decided to not let the actions of someone or something that I don't agree with take away from what I enjoy.

First off, glad to see you're the bigger man and can continue on with the things you love on here despite the negativity of others.

Yes, I would have a problem with seeing that, but in any of my work that was on the Naval and Air Force Base in Charleston showed everyone at attention and vehicles stopped, the whole place seemingly shut down. Once again, it's their right to do what they want, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. I'm not just against "black football players", I'm against anyone disrespecting our country, flag, and soldiers. That's the one way that us that do not serve can honor the people that fight and have fought for this country.

And the 100% of cops was not an assumption, it was a response to the way you worded your comment to make it seem like every black kid in Chicago gets arrested and every cop gets administrative leave. Hence why I said extreme.

"Going about it the wrong way" was more of wording I used in efforts of explaining they are desecrating something a lot of people find most sacred in this country. They could have worn a ribbon, helmet sticker, jersey patch, done commercials, just like they do for breast cancer awareness with all of the pink. Look at what Deangelo Williams did. That guy took fine after fine from the NFL to prove a point, and he was actually affected with his momma falling victim to cancer. I just think it's tacky and disgraceful to insult a flag and anthem that millions have given their lives and time for, and for them to even remotely have the opportunity to make the money they make for playing a game. You may not see it that way, other enlisted members may not see it that way, other veterans may not see it that way, protesters may not see it that way, but I do see it that way, along with millions of others. With their platform, they could have come up with a better solution. Remember, this all started with Kaepernick not even standing, but sitting on a bench, and even he was advised by a veteran to atleast get off your tail and take a knee, which he did.

Sure, some of these guys do some things in the community, but I think we can agree it's not near the amount they should offer since they consider themselves idols and have the audacity to speak out about injustice when they aren't making an active change theirselves in the communities. PLENTY of press has been given to Kaepernick about him never giving until this whole injustice deal, and even then he only gave after he received the flak he received. He's atleast held up to his end of the bargain, but you're not going to tell me all of these guys taking knees are donating, visiting schools, and giving the time to their communities to make this whole kneeling protest worth it in terms if actually making a change. You can clearly see what their platform offers from a media standpoint and how it can reach millions, so imagine what their combined time and money could possibly do.

And there is an assumption that the only thing these guys are doing is just kneeling. There are individuals that are actually doing other things to in and around their community. But the media doesn't show it, because it isn't click bait.

Media is the biggest problem in all political/racial/current issues. There are also tons of GREAT interractions between the police and citizens, blacks, etc... Great things happening in schools... Sporting events... But it doesn't sell ads.

So instead we get made up stories like "Hands up don't shoot" and "Police acted supidly" which set the world on fire... I can't think of any made up stories regarding cops that do good things that turned out not to be true? But there are lots of people doing positive things as well.

Bottom line is the big media sucks. And it is mostly fake news... Fox news as well... Mostly bogus IMO.

Yea but what about......

"What about the women the suffer from or die of Ovarian cancer. Have women died from breast cancer? Yes. But other cancers are killing women just as much as breast cancer... And there's silence. I have zero respect for anyone supporting breast cancer awareness month until they start supporting other cancers."

Black guy kills a innocent black guy in Chicago and gets caught.... Black guy goes to jail. A Cop kills a innocent black guy and gets caught...... Paid administrative leave....not held accountable. Thats the issue.

Yea but what about.......

Like I said I understand completely.

I believe good cops want the bad cops rooted out.

Cop kills innocent black guy cop gets administrative leave because of due process then if found as a unjustified shooting cop gets charged the same as black dude that kills innocent black dude.

I think the rhetoric from both sides is damaging any movement to become better and I don’t believe the President helps matters at all.

But, I won’t pretend I know what the black community is feeling or anything remotely close.

In the cases Kap started protesting not one of the "victims" were innocent and not one of the police were found guilty.. in a court of law... with a jury... made up of at least half black men/women... Not one! So please spare me that Bull$hit. Is there racial profiling yes.. has that been brought on by decades of Police dealing with issues.. yes. I for one want a cop to question a squirrelly looking guy parked outside a school, or an middle eastern man with a large backpack walking around a government building or a carload of black young men circling a neighborhood slowing down in front of a certain house.. they pull over young white men for doing the same thing in our neighborhood. Still disrespecting the flag and all the men and women who fought for it isn't the best way for people to hear your point even if they agreed with it.

Also, do you realize that in the 13 years we have been fighting in Iraq and Afganistan we have lost just under 6,800 troops (losing any is a tragedy) but in that same time we have lost almost 200,000 to murder in the United States over 6,200 of those were inside the city of Chicago in that same time period. It is more safe to be a soldier in afganistan than to be a citizen of Chicago. The majority of this is black on black crime and shows the real war is on our streets not in the middle east. Police brutality makes up less than half of 1% of that number being generous.

The Micheal Bennett saga.. which for the record turned out to be a lie by him... the police told everyone in the casino that there was a suspected gunman and he was looking suspicious hiding behind slot machines and ran out of the building where the officers subdued him and arrested him. The arresting officers where two black men and an Asian.. real racial issue there huh? PS. if that was any white man, Asian man, middle eastern man.. acting the same way in the same situation they too would have been arrested.

But I say the NFL or the owners will start doing stuff to remedy this situation quickly because their already seeing the issues it is causing and know that if it continues it could be doom for the league and their franchises going forward.

Let me say "I DO NOT AGREE WITH INDIVIDUALS KNEELING

Not one was innocent?..... What were They guilty of that the sentence should have been death?

as far as the Afghanistan comment.... All I will do is shake my head. After spending two tours in Afghanistan and and Iraq, I'll gladly live in Chicago.

Bennett issue... What part of that account was a lie?..... Accused officer/arresting officer didnt have his camera on. Police didn't tell everyone in the casino there was a suspected shooter. I was there. Just as with the most recent Vegas shooting. Was there also. Very different situations. So I will leave those two alone.

so here's the thing... Stereotypes are truths... But the truths don't apply to all individuals that "fall under said stereotype", whether that stereotype deals with, race, affiliation, gender, religion, occupation...etc.

Here is what I think about when living as a black person in America. While in the military we had annual Anti terrorism training. In that training there were instructions on what not to do to bring attention to yourself when abroad. Instructions on what and what not to wear. Where to live, where we should and shouldn't eat. Things to say and what not to say.... Etc.
I compare that to LIVING as a black man in America. And I understand how stereotypes play into assumptions.

It's unfortunate you feel so restricted in this country and I hate you feel that way, but go look around the streets of California (where I believe you said you lived at one point) and I think it will tell a different truth. There appears to be a mental roadblock where you feel you can't wear or say what you want in this country. Hell, my dad talks shit to me and scolds me when I wear yellow or red pants or don't shave, but do I let that keep me from wearing them or do I walk down the road scared? Fuck no. With the media and race card, being a middle aged white male is just as difficult currently as we are the ones that truly have speech restrictions for what could or may be said or done. With everyone just itching to start conflict, a white person can't say anything, or are scrambling to shake the racism tag. Everything is PC these days and almost comical with how pathetic society is getting so tit for tat.

No one in their right mind would want to live in that shithole known as the Middle East. The point were the scheer numbers. Not comparing climate, culture, food, architecture, or anything else between Afghanistan and Chicago.

Attacking a police officer after robbing a store clerk is not an innocent man, secondly, when you are told to put your hands on your head and instead reach for the gun in your pocket you aren't innocent, when you have weapon in your hand and are told to put your weapon down and you raise it toward the police.. you will get shot. When you get pulled over and the police tell you to keep your hands on the steering wheel but you reach for the weapon by your seat.. you will get shot. The thing you aren't getting Chase is that these events are not a race issue.. any person of any color or economic background who did the same would end up the same way.. they are not innocent no matter the color.

Bennett issue.. you may want to watch the new video that just came out yesterday.. you can see the whole thing including the arrest from the cops body cam.. just look up Michael Bennetts a liar and if you say you were there and it didn't happen then that would affect your credibility too.

Thank you for your service in Afganastan, I served during the first Gulf War as an EOD in the Navy. The numbers I gave on total troops lost and murders are 100% accurate and the casualty numbers include Iraq not just Afganastan so truly 1 city in America has produced more death than an entire country that we are fighting in. I have been racially profiled by the police in the streets of Chicago.. me and my friends were picked up by the police for simply walking down the street and told that we weren't safe to be there because we were white. They had us empty our pockets, show our id's, we were patted down and then released at the police station... because we "complied".

So again, find a different way to protest if you don't feel like you are treated fairly, these are not issue where someone was treated unfairly because they were black.. matter of fact several of the arresting officers including all that arrested Bennett were minorities.. so please tell me how that is a racial issue. Plus, as we just went over any man, no matter the color would be shot for doing the same thing.. again not a race issue.

And if players can't get that thru their little snowflake heads then they will be unemployed and have no one to blame but themselves.

You got to admit that Michael Bennett running ONTO THE STRIP when an officer is telling him to stop is pretty freaking suspect... At the very least? The guy jumped a freaking wall to run into traffic. C'mon now

I think what I was saying as far as the "what to wear/what to say " statement may have been misunderstood. That was in relation to my statement about stereotypes.

My dad fought in Korea and sacrificed to give these people the right to protest according to the 1sr Amendment. We either support the 1st Amendment or we do not support it. I personally find it offensive to not stand and show respect during the SSB but it is also disrespectful IMO, to play on your phone, talk or countless other things while it’s being played. Do I like it? NO!!!! Do they have the right? Yes!

Well said. It's unfortunate more people cannot see that the protests are EXACTLY what sets us apart as a nation. I guess I shouldn't be surprised given the obvious demographic here, but it's still disappointing.

Again they have the right and I have the right not to watch or spend money with anyone who sponsors them. Just like people can apparently burn a flag in protest all though desecration of our flag is illegal but I promise if I see anyone burning a flag.. I will use whoever is burning it to put out the fire and then beat their eye sockets in.

Last game I was at I counted around a dozen people, white and black, that were too busy on their phones to do anything, let alone salute a flag... Wonder why you guys dont whine about that?

Just imagine if our biggest concern in this world was actually whether or not someone stands for the damn anthem... or even more, if you guys gave as much thought, worry and passion over ACTUAL problems in our country. Just imagine what we could do...

Standing for the National Anthem has nothing to do with what we could do. It is just respect for what others before us have done. Has nothing to do with race. Has all to do with the history of the great country we all share history good or bad. l have seen other people not standing when it is played. I can't judge them because that is not my right. It is my right if I refuse to support the NFL because they just don't care enough about the history of our great country to respect our flag. If you don't respect your country why do you take money from it's citizens? Why do you keep on living here? It is just an excuse to be a thug. The NFL players used to be a great example of hero's our kids could look up to. Not anymore and I don't know how they can change that.

Here is a link to what is really happening to their revenue. It will be a disaster if they don't fix it. I don't have the answers, but doing good deeds like Deshaun Watson does is the answer.

NFL is losing respect, fans, sponsors, and revenue at speed of light

Great article. I don't see how any open-minded person reads that and continues to condemn these guys. But....I've never walked in their (the players) shoes nor served in the military, so I'll not judge either side.
Sorry but I don't get the half mast . If they want to protest, then protest some way that is clear communication that they are singling out the police. Why not spend their money for education, supporting local communities, helping train police, clean up slums, volunteer for soup kitchens, start a grant for college, run a tv ad, have espn report it, or more creative ways to protest like well a police protest march. This is not perceived as a protest against police, but a protest against the USA. No one can see it any other way.

I haven't responded to anyone else since my last post in this thread, because honestly like anything to do with politics on this site it isn't going to go anywhere. You people believe what you're going to believe no matter what, and you 100% aren't going to change my mind. I just thought it was hilarious with how much you guys post about fake news and "media bias" and the site you choose to back up your claim about the NFL dying is a verified fake news site. Nice.

If it is fake news google is fake. I just think it is a valid issue but a poor way to protest it. There are many other valid ways to communicate a protest. Our country is not at fault. Our military and our football teams are not at fault. Every profession has thugs and idiots. I respect their protest but just don't get how it is articulated
