San Francisco 49ers linebacker Reuben Foster escaped unharmed from an armed-robbery attempt on Monday.

According to a report that originated with the news web site missionlocal.org, Foster and teammate Ray-Ray Armstrong were the intended victims of two armed men at Love and Propaganda, a San Francisco nightclub, at around 2 a.m. PDT Monday.

In a Tuesday statement, the 49ers said they were aware of the incident and were "very thankful no one was harmed."

Foster noticed a white Audi with tinted windows repeatedly riding past the nightclub and felt "like he was going to be robbed," according to the police report on the incident.

Foster gave his valuables to a friend in the club, and he and Armstrong asked a security guard to walk them and another man to their car.

The players reported the Audi pulled up, two masked men wearing white hoodies got out and they pointed an assault rifle and a handgun at the men. The intended victims then "ran like hell," according to the police report. They ran down the block and around the corner to the St. Francis Hotel and called police.

"Reuben and Ray-Ray have been, and will continue to be, cooperative with any further police investigation," the 49ers' statement said.

Twenty-five former Alabama players got on the field during the sixth Sunday of the NFL's 2017 season.

Foster did not play in Sunday's 26-24 loss to the Washington Redskins as the 49ers became the first team in NFL history to lose five consecutive games by a margin of three or fewer points.

Foster has been sidelined since suffering a high ankle sprain in his first NFL game on Sept. 10. He could be back on Sunday, when San Francisco plays the Dallas Cowboys.

On Friday, San Francisco released four-time All-Pro linebackerNaVorro Bowman. When Foster returns, he's expected to fill that spot for the 49ers.

The San Francisco 49ers cleared a spot for rookie linebacker Reuben Foster in the middle of their defense by cutting former all-star NaVorro Bowman.

After winning the Butkus Award as the nation's best collegiate linebacker last season with Alabama, Foster joined the 49ers as the 31st selection in the NFL Draft in April. Before playing for the Crimson Tide, Foster was the Class 6A Lineman of the Year for the 2012 season at Auburn High School.

I know you don't bring a knife to a gun fight and the smart thing was to run, but boy, if they didn't have guns Reuben would have probably killed those guys. Dude is as crazy as they come when he pops, hence why he was so violent on the field.
