🏈 RED Zone Attack Plan

CNS said it the other day that he wants more shots taken downfield in the passing game. I believe he wants both Greg and McElwain to go all out and really put the hammer down when we get a shot. If Greg puts a little more air on some of his Fade routes, we're going ape because Julio has 6-7 TD grabs. Coach Homer Smith used to do a drill with his QBs and I used it as well. Place a 55 gal drum in the corner of the endzone and try to ring it. It works on getting air under the ball and even when throwing the deep ball. Greg will get better.

I've got nothing to back this up other than a gut instinct.

The last few games we've had issues with explosive plays. Simply put, not getting them.

I suspect when that area improves, we'll see the red zone numbers improve as well.

There's nothing concrete to base that suspicion on...just a gut feeling.

Oh, I am not being sarcastic at all. I could not be any more serious. Saban strikes me as being like a pitcher who is pitching a shutout and has a catcher with a bad arm. He would call the catcher to the mound and tell him, "don't worry about that guy down at second; if he steals third, I'll keep him there. I damn sure don't want you throwing the ball out into left field and letting him score."

Thats is a very interesting take. You may be right....I wish I knew for sure. The whole offense has been very confusing this year. I don' t think being aggressive or conservative is the issue. It boils down to knowing when to be that way. We have been very inconsistent on playing calling.

We are cute at time we need to just shove it down their throats and conservative at time when we need to go for the 4th and 1 and ice the game. I am axiously awaiting to see the rest of the year and see how the offense goes before I pass full judgement. I think we are going to come out more wide open for LSU.:a:

Wouldnt that go against what we have been doing? Running the ball= the safe play:headscratch:

Not quite sure about what you are asking here, but that may be because I haven't made clear what I am saying. My thoughts are just conjecture on my part as to what Saban may be saying to McElwain. I am not saying that Bama should be doing thus and so. I am thinking that McElwain is free to do anything within reason that will keep the Bama offense on the field while resting the Bama defense. I would also think that kcking FG's from outside of the Redzone, and not taking away precious time of possesion from the opponent, and not resting the Bama defense, and not moving the ball inside the Redzone would be frowned upon by Mr. Saban.

I thought you were implying that Saban might have McElwain handcuffed in his play calling (much like Stallings) I would find that highly unlikely with all the passing thats been going on in the red zone. The higher percentage/safer route would be to give 22 the rock!

Heck, you don't remember the first week of the season followed by all the Wildcat haters that came out of the woodwork?

 i def remember that, alot of crying about it not being traditional alabama football. i wonder if ppl said that when the Bear pulled out the Wish Bone for the first time. The Wild Tide is nice.

Since no one seems to be able to come up with a Scoring Game Plan in the RED Zone for Bama this year, other than a Field Goal...

I recommend we use Mt. Cody as a Fullback, and Mark Ingram with him. Run them both, and give one or the other the ball..

I think we will finally have a winning combination then.. every time !
:td:Love your idea man awsome:td:
