<HR style="COLOR: #bdbdbd; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #bdbdbd" SIZE=1><!-- google_ad_section_start -->Well, lookie here. Lane Kiffin done went and got himself in a whole heap a trouble again. The SEC's favorite whipping boy got his second public tongue lashing from the almighty SEC commish, Mike Slive, today.

It's been stated that if it happens again, he could be suspended.

In other news, the only people who actually care are his SEC opponents.

The problem here is that Lane Kiffin says and does out loud what every other SEC coach thinks and says quietly.

A Bama fan will complain that Lane has no character, all the while ignoring the circumstances under which their mercenary coach came to T-Town. Remember it, guys? Remember him lying to his Miami Dolphins team? To the media?

"I'm not going to be the Alabama coach," he said. As a matter of fact, he angrily made that statement to the Florida media not once, but three times in a week's period.

If character is the issue, is Saban's lying tongue not held accountable?

How about Urban Meyer at Florida? The guy who continually runs up scores on hapless opponents to bolster his ego.

(Well he hasn't done that much lately since "The Chosen One"...you know, the QB who has made Meyer's career, has been a mere mortal lately.)

What about Mark Richt at Georgia? The guy who continually preaches about righteousness and good living, yet his players are among the most undisciplined, on and off the field, in the country.

Then you've got Bobby Petrino at Arkansas. Here's a guy who's such a coward he couldn't even face his team, the Atlanta Falcons, after he decided to ditch them in midseason for a college gig.

Houston Nutt, the guy Petrino replaced, who is now at Ole Miss, had an affair with a staffer while at Arkansas.

Steve Spurrier was the Mouth of the South long before Kiffin, and he did nothing but build the winningest SEC program since 1990.

It's like the continuous Republican vs. Democrat debate. "He's a scumbag because he believes in socialism!" or my personal favorite, "He's a Bible-totin' Christian, therefore he hates everyone!"

All the while, members of both sides have more skeletons in their closets than most graveyards do.

The bottom line is that you are whining and complaining about Kiffin while your coaches are all scumbags as well. Kiffin just says what's on his mind.

The rest of the coaches keep it to themselves. Kiffin's problem is not character; it's a big mouth.

Even with that being the case, it really doesn't matter. Lane Kiffin is the most popular man on the Tennessee campus. His players love him and they love his style.

Want proof? Eric Berry told the Knoxville News-Sentinel just today, "We feel like if we just keep buying into this staff and keep doing everything that they ask us to do, the sky is the limit."

Berry went on to say, "I mean, I feel like if we just had a little more time with this staff we would be undefeated right now.

"You see we're getting to know each other a lot as the season goes along, you can tell it by the way we're playing and the guys are buying into this coaching staff."

WR Gerald Jones said, "Man, they are unbelievable, and I enjoy every bit of playing for them and Coach Kiffin is probably one of my favorite coaches in history. He's so competitive and he has the eagerness to win, and that's the same person I am.

"To be coached by that type of person, you expect nothing over than to be the best."

In the end, isn't that what matters?

Bamablogger might call him classless. Gatrluvr on some far distant message board thinks he's a prick. Dawggystyle on the Athens Herald website thinks he's childish. Even old WarEagle himself thinks Kiffin's a bum.

But guess what, his players love and respect him. The recruits gravitate to him. The players know that he has their back, no matter what.

As a result his team has played two No. 1 teams on their own home field and has lost by a combined 12 points. The talent levels aren't even close to comparable, yet his rebuilding Vols team scared the Bear right out of millions of Alabama fans on Saturday.

Guess how many players have been arrested under his watch? Zero. Guess how many potential stars have been kicked off his team or decided to go elsewhere because they couldn't live up to his standards? 15 and counting.

His first Vols team is among the least penalized in the country (currently ranked second). He's already amassed one top 10 recruiting class in just two short months. He's currently working on a Top Five class as we speak.

So in the end it really doesn't matter what you write, type, or say about Lane Kiffin. The man knows what he's doing. He may not be doing it the way Bear or General Neyland would have done it, but he's doing it.

There's really nothing the haters or anyone else can say or do to stop it. You can just keep hatin', because he's going to keep bringing in talent. Once that talent is in Knoxville, you can just watch out because the wins will follow.

At that point in time when asked that question, Nick Saban was not going to be the coach at Alabama. People change their minds all the time, especially when it comes to careers. If you've ever quit a job to get another like most people have at some point in life, then by this article's logic you are a bad person.

The problem people have with Kiffin is not because they think he's a bad person...more that he's an idiot. Very much an idiot.

Bless their heart. Tenessee people are actually fooling themselves into buying his crap. Kiffen is a total joke but they can't admit it. Worse yet, they have to make the best of this situation. Deep down they know he's a joke too but what choice do they have? When he runs their program into the ground, they will wake up and see what a clown he is. I would be embarrassed to have him as a coach.

Kiffin is a punk, whiny, petulant child.

First it was "we earned respect." Now, it's you bring this copy and paste over from a fan board and asking for respect.

Give it up.

He's nothing more than Hamilton repeating what he's done before. Screwing up when he hired a coach.

My objection to Kiffie is that what he is saying about the fix being in with the officials to protect Alabama and Florida may cause some drunken, overzealous fan to commit mayhem on an official. Jump up and down like a spoiled three year old, for all Icare, chew on the officials during the game, whine on your show about specific calls, but if you're saying the officials are making sure that Alabama and Florida "march on" you need a little more than sour grapes to back it up.

What Nick Saban and other coaches did brought questions to their own integrity.

Kiffin questions other peoples integrity publicly, and usually he is wrong on what he is claiming.

Big difference.

Saban

The reason Saban told reporters, etc. that he wasn't going to be the coach at Alabama is because he was coaching a PRO team, the Miami Dolphins, and THEIR SEASON WASN'T YET OVER, like the college season. And he couldn't say/tell that he was going to a college team until his PRO team's season was over. GOT IT!!!

Put that in your pipe and smoke it, Tennessee fan.

Kiffin is a crybaby and yes - "The Mouth of the South"

On Nick Saban...

Media:

Nick Saban is a dictator who is driven to success. He is mean.

Rival fans:

Nick Saban is an egotistical jerk who cares about nothing but winning at all costs. He wins, but that doesn't matter.

Bama fans:

Nick Saban is a winner who takes a no nonsense approach and produces great results.

Bama players:

Nick Saban is nothing like the media portrays him. He cares about us, who we are, on and off the field, and we care about him.

On Lane Kiffin...

The Media, Rival Fans, and pretty much the whole non-orange glasses wearing world:

Kiffin is a petulant child who whines and cries when he doesn't get his way. He is an embarrasment to the coaching profession. He has done nothing but talk EVER. He speaks before he thinks, making accusations and lies about other teams, programs, coaches, etc. He has proven nothing but the ineptitude of his public personna.

Vol players:

We love our staff

Vol Fans:

We adore him. He is a great coach even though there is no evidence or track record of sustained success. All hail the 3-4 savior of our program. Sure he is 1-3 in the SEC, but he will win at UT. Disregard the 17 seniors starting on our team, we will be better next year. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. Yes we know that Mike Shula won 10 games at Alabama and was the master of losing close games, Kiffin is different.

-----------------------------------

Look Vol

We know our rivals hate Saban. They hate him because he is a winner.
People hate Urban Meyer because he is a winner.
People hated Spurrier when he was at UF because he was a winner.

People hate your coach because he is a whiny little brat. He accuses others of wrongdoing when there is no basis, and is unapologetic.

Alabama will be better next year than we are this year. We lose some players on defense, but we have really good depth and the incoming players are their equal.

UT loses a LOT. You will be lucky to be a .500 team next season.

I will go ahead and say it...his comment about beating Bama next year will come back to haunt him in a big way. UT is in for a beatdown in 2010.

It would seem to me that Phil Fulmer and Lane Kiffen are a big part of what went wrong with a great college football rivalry. Unfortunately, respect has been missing for several years and will get no better as long a Kiffen continues to mouth off. There' an old saying about "better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt."

No holds barred in this comment:

The Alabama vs Tennessee game is the most storied rivalry in SEC football. Sure, Auburn and Georgia have been playing a long time but neither hold the SEC Championships or NC Championships our schools do.

How important is this rivalry?

It's called the "Third Saturday in October" even when it's isn't.

Kiffin is pissing on this traditional game. Yes. I said it.

Fulmer did as well.

I don't know what your intention was in posting this write-up from BR. But, all that being said.

Our rivalry took a move to the better when Fulmer was pushed out. It took a step back with Kiffin.

Now, we are reeling backwards...

To Big Fan

Hey Big Fan - I agree with your post all but this part:

Look Vol

We know our rivals hate Saban. They hate him because he is a winner.
People hate Urban Meyer because he is a winner.
People hated Spurrier when he was at UF because he was a winner

***************************************************

I don't think we usually hate a coach...unless... I think perhaps we admire a winning coach while all the time hoping that we'll beat his team. We may even dread the day that we play his team and worry about winning.

The exceptions to that "rule" has been Fulmer and now Loud Mouth Kiffin, who has done more in a few weeks/months to cause Bama fans to hate Tennessee more than we did when Fulmer was there. :elephant:
