Guys, I was thinking a lot about the game last night, and wanted to see what your thoughts were on it as well. Maybe I'm making too much of things, I'm not sure?

1. Welcome to the BIG TIME, Coach Kelly
Of all the issues regarding Oregon last night it was Chip Kelly that came to mind the most. Talk about running into a buzz saw! Kelly looked like a deer staring into head lights for most of the first half. Is there truth to the old adage that coaching in Vermont is a world away from coaching at somewhere like Oregon? Is that an overrated philosophy, or does last night's performance pretty much confirm things?

2. Abandonment Issues
I'm not a D1 football coach, but it would seem to me that if you're a spread option team, you should probably play spread option football. Maybe that's just me. But Oregon came out last night and tried to throw the ball down field time and again. It didn't work, yet Oregon kept going to it. Keep in mind that this was not a situation where Boise State jumped all over Oregon 21-0. Oregon was down by one score for much of the half.

They say in football that if something works, you keep going to it until the defense stops it. What if something doesn't work? Should you keep Darbying it up the middle time and again, hoping for a different result?

3. Unless something changes
Unless something major changes, the Pac 10 race might already be over for Oregon. Not only is the defense porous, but the Ducks might be losing their best RB for an extended period.

4. But we look cool, and that's what counts!
Maybe Oregon should spend a little less time worrying about whether they have feathers on their shoulders or not, and more time preparing for a football game.

Last night was all about style over substance. In appearance as well as play.

5. Is Boise for real?
When I say "for real", I know that we would all agree that Boise is a solid team, but was last night more about Oregon's issues or Boise's dominance?

I didn't get to watch the full game but that won't stop me from giving my opinion. What I saw, and this may also go hand in hand with Oregon taking shots down field, is that when Oregon when down 8 to nothing they starting going into panic mode. My fellow gamers may be the only to get this but it honestly reminded me of an NCAA Football 2010 online match where when you go up a couple of scores you'll see people just start throwing hail marys down the field in the middle of the second quarter desperately trying to catch back up. Only difference is Chip Kelly couldn't press start and hit "quit game."

5. I really didn't think that Boise was dominant in my opinion. You can say they have a good D but Oregon played bad O. Boise should have blown them out and they didn't. The Boise O was on the field the whole first half against a very tired Oregon D and they couldn't finish the game off like I thought they should have.

They will probally run the table now because of a weak schedule and get a bid to a BCS game, but will it be the National Championship ? I doubt it. I say they will lose at least one game against a nobody team to put them out of the running. We will see though.

I thought Boise looked more complete than ever. Passing game was well excuted, running game was much improved, Defense looked fast and sharp. How much of that is a result of the Ducks poor play...I'm not sure.

Take the other game from last night...were the offenses for NCSU and
USCe that weak or was it that the defenses were just that good. It's hard to say by just watching one game....against one opponent.

My take;

NCSU vs. USCe = bad offense

BSU vs. Oregon = A good team vs. very confused team. I think Boise will make it to a BCS game and have a good shot at beating their opponent....just as they did Oklahoma a few years ago.

Our resident Utah fan may not like me saying that

Definitely got that Kelly = Shula feeling. Not an auspicious beginning for a guy replacing a great coach like Bellotti. Boise's defense looked solid, but Oregon probably made them look a lot better than they arre.

Regarding USCe vs NC St., USCe has a good defense. Their offense sucked last year and it looks like marginal improvement at best.

1. Def. looked in over his head.

2. With the type of QB they had I just didn't understand why they wanted to just drop back and chunk it all game. He should have been carrying the ball more and other runners should've been given the ball more as well to open up that passing game. They had a total of 17 carries between 3 different players (those 17 were the only run plays they had by the way). I think that best sums it up.

3. Yeah the Ducks are done imo.

4. This is exactly what I was thinking about. They cared more about how they looked than how they played.

5. Answer probably won't come until the bowl game. Their schedule is charman-ultra soft and I don't see anyway they lose from here on out. When someone says at Fresno State is ur toughest remaining game that prolly means ur not playin anyone. I personally think it was more of Oregon's problems rather than Boise's 'dominance'. I mean they never even really put it away forreal and they made a ton of mistakes themselves.

And Blount is suspended for the season. Not too surprising, but it's one more blow for a team that looked horrible last night.

Tulsa and Nevada will give Boise St games, but it's hard to say Boise will lose either of them.

The funny thing is, a one-loss MWC champ would probably get in over Boise St if Oregon goes 8-4 or worse. That SOS isn't getting better, while TCU/BYU/Utah will likely stay ranked all season.
