🏈 Questions regarding a great football weekend

Richt needs the win more. The wheels can fall off at UT and he still has cushion before they are ready to roll his head.

We fall further than UF if both teams lose. LSU is ranked higher than Ole Miss. Plus UF is 2 spots up on us. That equates to us falling to about 11ish and UF to about 7ish.

I thought Kiffin, in that a loss would put them at 2-4 through the easy half of the schedule. They would have to go 4-2 the rest of the way to make the bowl that the fans anticipated. Richt would not be crushed IMO, but would have to follow up next year strongly to recover...which may be possible when Tebow is gone.

Looking at the polls, the issue is that 4-1 Virginia Tech is sitting at #5. How do a mass of voters disregard the fact that we beat VT soundly on a neutral field? Boise State is undefeated and could easily jump a 5-1 BAMA team, but what about a 5-1 USC team. Who's loss is worst; BAMA at #20 Ole Miss or USC at WASHINGTON coming off a 15 game losing streak? I just don't see enough teams able to jump us for us to fall too far. Maybe to #4?:headscratch:...behind the FLA/LSU winner, TEXAS, and Boise?

RE: Coaching. Is there a strong feeling here that Mark Richt is on enough of a hot seat to where the UT game could threaten his job?

RE: BAMA falling in the polls (not my prediction BTW). Should we lose, do we drop behind VT? What about USC, cause I don't see USC's loss to Washington being more respected that a Bama loss to OleMiss?

<EDIT: removed incomplete cut-n-pasted poll>

For perspective, here is the AP Poll:
1 Florida, 2 Texas, 3 Alabama, 4 LSU, 5 Virginia Tech, 6 Boise State, 7 USC, Cincinnati, 9 Ohio State, 10 TCU, 11 Miami (Ohio), 12 Iowa, 13 Oregon, 14 Penn State, 15 Oklahoma State, 16 Kansas, 17 Auburn, 18 BYU, 19 Oklahoma, 20 Ole Miss (BOLD teams already have a loss and OK with 2-losses)

In a ranking of 1-loss teams, how would a 1-loss Bama break out? I can't see anyway but to list them as #1 (unless FLA loses too). And so even if all the undefeated teams listed above were bumped up ahead of all the teams with a loss, that would still have Bama in the Top 10.

Another angle; If BAMA loses to #20 OleMiss on the road, will the majority of voters say " Between Boise State of the WAC, Cincinnati of the BIG EAST, TCU of C-USA, and ALABAMA of the SEC, we think BAMA is the worst?"...because that is what would have to happen in large numbers for the TIDE to drop even as far as number 7. This does not address dropping us below Virginia Tech.

What worries me about the possibility of of losing to Old Miss is that it would drop us below USC. The national love affair with USC is so deep that they will slip back into the NC picture by the end of the season IMO. We would have to play perfectly the rest of the season to get back in the hunt for an NC.

This would be multiplied should Florida fall to LSU.

As for Richt, there has been unrest for the past couple of years from the powers that be and the fans concerning the Defensive Coordinator and Richt's unwillingness to get rid of him. A loss to the Vols might not be a death knell for Richt, but it would cause the undertaker to perk up.

I think Richt needs the win more than Kiffin. I think alot of the sentiment for Kiffin is that Phat Phil left him with the cubboard bare and he must restock.

Florida remains #1 with a win and drops to 5or 6 with a loss. LSwho moves to #2 with a win and into the teens with a loss. I don't believe the media is sold on them enough to leap them over both Texas and Bama and I don't think they keep them high in the top 10 with a loss. BAMA wins and stays at #3 and looks to make their move up next week with the Texas - OU matchup taking place. A loss here and I don't think BAMA falls far to maybe 7 or 8. Ole Miss falls from grace for sure with a sencond loss. A win and maybe they move up 4-5 slots.

Richt needs the win more.

As for the polls..if we lose..all I know is that we will hear how we are overrated and blah..blah...blahh....yet USC, Ohio St., Miami, VT, Oklahoma are all very good teams that just lost due to the flu or had a bad travel day........bunch of crapola:swear:

ESPN said last night that Bama was the quiestest #3 team ever....well no chit..because nobody talks about them. Take a one loss Miami team or USC and every broadcaster in the land will do their best to put them in the NC game. Id just rather have no exposure and just beat the snot out of each opponent every week.

From all the grumbling I've been hearing from all the dawg fans, I've gotta say Richt needs it more then Lame. The dawg nation is ready to run the entire staff out of town.

Two questions:

1) UGA@UT -- Which Head Coach needs the win more?

2) FLA@LSU and BAMA@OleMiss -- where will each team be ranked next week if they win? ...if they lose?

1) Can they both lose? I don't really care for either, so whoever needs a win most I want to lose.
2) If Florida loses they should be about 7 or so. We won't lose so I wont dignify that with an answer.
