I'm trying to come up with a good question to ask CNS this week at the coaches show.

Porter, Doemaster, and myself have the best seat in the house and one of us will get to ask coach a question. If someone comes up with a good question I will throw $500 Bama Bucks at you.

Knowing how outgoing Porter and Doe are......I'll be the idiot that gets to ask the question. So if it is stupid.....don't think for a second that I will ask it. I'm not like all the reporters that get paid to get verbally abused by him. :no-no:

Remember he made an NFL player cry!

Ask about the change in defensive coordinators...if Smart will pick up where Steele left off ..etc ....due to defense being his bread and butter specialty....

Id love to hear his thoughts on the QB position in the coming years...with Sims being thrown in the mix...since Sims dad is convinced his boy is going to get immediate play time...not sure how to approach that question though.

OK, here's one.

If there is one thing that Va. Tech does well it's how they shift their back seven. Sometimes it's a set with four DB's, other times it's with five but it's not necessarily a true nickel formation.

What did he, and the coaching staff, find to be the hardest thing to scheme for against the Va. Tech defense?

Terry as much as I like your question, I do think an ass-chewing would ensue.

I don't think he will talk X's and O's about a team before we play them. :no-no:

I think you are wrong...'specially considering it's a secondary question. One thing he does like to do is talk scheme. He's shown that in his press conferences.

But, if you lack the...

How about this:

What is the hardest thing to prepare for when you play someone like Virginia Tech?

He'd say something about preparing for a running QB...at least, that's what I would bet. It would sound like the presser from the Arkie State game last year.

Fire his arse up is my opinion...let him rip one off!!! Hell, with RJ as the target?!?!

With the departure of Rashad to the NFL, we lost more than a free safety. We lost a leader who knew all of the assignments for the defensive backs, and a player that was able to read the offense along with helping the other DBs make adjustments before the snap.

Ask him how much he thinks that may affect the Tide's DBs early on, and if anyone has stepped up and assumed Rashad's leadership role.

When Andre Smith was injured last year, there was an immediate, noticeable decline in the O-line. Ask him if any provisions have been made to guard against that scenario again, not just performance-wise in whatever position might lose a player to injury, but in the approach to mental prepared-ness when you lose a team leader like that.

It was like everyone lost their sight in one eye or something, such a drastic falling-apart.

Ask him something simple that he can expand on to whatever degree he feels like. Ask him:

"Coach, with the first game days away, tell us the mood on the team and among the coaching staff?"

or

"Coach, with the media and excitement surrounding the first game and the game being at night, how do you keep the team focused all day? What is game day for this important night game going to look like?"

or

Set him off and ask, "Coach tell us how you came to the existing depth chart, how many points are we going to score, what is our biggest weakness, and which player of theirs are you most worried about?:rofl:

How bout...has there been any rule changes that will significantly affect your coaching decisions during the game?

Has the learning potential grown for the DBs and have you expanded their roles on the D?

how's your golf game?..cause mine sucks right now!

Ask him WTF happened to Ivan Matchett! haha.

I noticed Watkins has changed positions from Jack to Sam where he seems to have less competition in front of him. (He was buried on the "depth chart" at jack. At Sam, he is now listed in the 2-deep!) Is there something you can tell us about his development and what brought on the transition?
