Yes the loss hurt, mostly because the domination Bama displayed in the first qtr. Putting up 21 before Auburn got a 1st down. Geez. Anyway to my question.

Bammers/ Barners- Really? I've seen it on message boards before. I've never used those terms myself. I was shocked to hear CBS lead into the game with the the explanation. Is that a recent internet thing? My cousin (Auburn) called us Bammers when I was at my grandmothers during the summer. I was like really, it sounds so childish. Do other rivalries use made up nicknames for one another?

Maybe I'm from a different time or just didnt hear it. I was born at UAB hospital in '72, but moved to Atlanta in the 5th grade. When I was in Elementary school in Trussville I know we had some fun as kids do joking around but never heard those names to either. I just remember referring to kids/ parents as Alabama or Auburn fans.

I've seen some pretty bad exchanges between Bama/Aub fans online over the past 10 years and sometimes its down right embarrassing. Of course alot of the stuff wouldnt be said if a keyboard and the internet didnt stand in the way. They talk about drunks being brave because they are wasted. I think the same applies to the net.

he hurt it trying to swat the ball away from the auburn receiver at the end of the 1st half touchdown. i rewatched the game on dvr last night and you can tell he hurt it then because he bends over and holds his arm at the end of the play. then during the long pass play to Terrell Zachery in the 3rd qtr, he just falls down instead of trying to intercept the ball, gary and verne say he over ran it, but his arm/chest was heavily bandaged after halftime, and you could tell something was wrong with him during that pass play

I thought Tideandtrue's comment was amusing and I couldn't resist!

As for the thread, I really think it started getting ugly the first time it went to the Barn to be played. Alot of rumors about that game and supposed threats being made to players and coaches and I believe it just "snowballed". The players on the other hand, still seem to have alot of respect for each other since most grew up playing together or against one another in high school.

Opposing fans like to say "Bammer" to get back at our "Barner" reference since that is the best they can do.
